Doocy confronts Fauci on testing for travelers, but not migrants and his answer is unbelievable

Fox News’ Peter Doocy successfully baited Dr. Anthony Fauci into admitting on Wednesday that illegal aliens will not be subject to the travel restrictions that President Joe Biden intends to institute in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant.

Doocy accomplished this during a press briefing by first prodding Fauci, who serves as the administration’s Chief Medical Advisor, to admit that the travel restrictions, which may include a 7-day quarantine, are ostensibly designed for “everybody.”

“Dr. Fauci, as you advise the President about the possibility of new testing requirements for people coming into this country, does that include everybody?” he asked.

“The answer is yes. … Anybody and everybody who’s coming into the country needs to get a test within 24 hours of getting on the plane to come here,” the “doctor” replied.

Doocy then quickly swooped in with his checkmate: “But what about people who don’t take a plane and just — these border crossers coming in huge numbers in a sense?”

“That’s a different issue,” Fauci responded, taking the bait and admitting what’s been suspected all along, which is that illegals are and will continue to benefit from preferential treatment by this administration.

The admission triggered a round of snarky backlash on social media.

Fauci continued by trying to make excuses for why law-breaking illegal aliens won’t be held to the same standards as law-abiding travelers and immigrants.

“For example, when you talk — we still have Title 42, with regard to protection at the border. So there are protections at the border — that you don’t have the capability, as you know, of somebody getting on a plane, getting checked, looking at a passport. We don’t have that there. But we can get some degree of mitigation,” he said.

Title 42 is a Trump era policy that allowed immigration officials to bar illegals who pose a health risk from entering the U.S. The policy, which was instituted at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March of 2020, worked like a charm.

According to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, while it’s true that the pandemic itself caused border apprehensions to plummet, they never rebounded even as the pandemic receded. And the reason why was because of Title 42.

“[I]n early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to a sudden across-the-board decline in federal prosecutions of all types, not just immigration. But as non-immigration prosecutions rebounded, immigration-related prosecutions remain uncharacteristically low due in large part to Customs and Border Protection’s policy to quickly expel immigrants back to Mexico rather than detain and prosecute them,” TRAC notes.

But the moment President Joe Biden stepped into office, suddenly apprehensions spiked again, despite him choosing to ostensibly keep Title 42 in place. Why? Just because Title 42 is technically in place doesn’t mean it’s actually being enforced.

Numerous examples have emerged of illegal aliens being allowed into the U.S. without any testing. In some cases, Biden administration immigration officials have even allowed COVID positive illegals directly into U.S. communities.

Responding to Fauci’s excuses, Doocy then asked one last question: “Is there something to do to test these people somewhere else before they get here?”

And again the ostensible doctor and full-time bureaucrat demurred.

“There — no, there — there is testing at the border under certain circumstances, as you know,” he said, refusing to provide a definitive answer.

This non-answer answer also provoked backlash:

The Biden administration’s continued refusal to hold illegal aliens to the same standards as legal travelers and immigrants has some convinced that their outward concern about the coronavirus is just for show.

Nothing else seems to explain why they’d rant and rave about vaccines, masks, etc., but then turn around and shrug indifferently as hundreds of thousands of potential COVID transmitters roll across the border.

As argued by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in the tweet below, it seems that once again, it’s all about “pure politics” and typical Democrat “hypocrisy” and nothing else.
