Hunter Biden teased a major role in a prospective Gavin Newsom administration, suggesting that he’d be eager to serve as his running mate for the outgoing California governor’s 2028 White House bid.
Newsom is seen as the front-runner in what promises to be a crowded – and deeply flawed – Democrat field vying to replace President Donald J. Trump, although it’s hard to see how putting a Biden back in the White House after his father’s disastrous reign would be a selling point with the American people.
The former first son was interviewed for the latest edition of the governor’s “This Is Gavin Newsom,” which will be published on Friday, with Newsom promoting their chat in a teaser in which Biden runs down a list of the topics of their discussion.

In a preview clip of the podcast posted to X by TMZ, Newsom introduces the reformed crackhead and sexual degenerate as “Presidential candidate Hunter Biden,” a reference to Trump’s musing that disgraced ex-president Joe Biden’s progeny could mount a 2028 White House run.
“Here’s the deal. I’ll run, but only as your VP,” Biden responded, endorsing the idea of the Democrat dream team.

Last week in the Oval Office, Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked Trump about the possibility of a 2028 Hunter Biden run.
“[Biden’s] on social media now, and he has suggested – maybe joking, I don’t know – that he could run for president in 2028. How would he do, Hunter Biden, in a 2028 Democratic primary?” Doocy asked.
“I would say his past is not the greatest,” Trump replied, suggesting that Biden could have a shot considering the success of Democrat Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner and his myriad of scandals.
“Hey, if the guy from Maine can do well,” Trump continued. “Well, I guess Hunter could do well, too, because the guy from Maine is a basket case.”
The idea of a potential Newsom-Hunter ticket was a field day for X users.

The chat with Newsom is the latest stop on the Hunter Biden image rehabilitation tour as the former presidential son has established a presence on social media and is building an army of fans.
Biden’s drug-fueled exploits were the stuff that legends are made of, with raunchy pictures and video from his infamous “laptop from hell” showing him huffing illicit substances and frolicking in the nude with prostitutes, irresistible material for the tabloids.
But it was Hunter Biden’s legal troubles that grabbed headlines and landed him in legal trouble, resulting in a 2024 federal conviction for lying about his drug use when purchasing a firearm. He would be pardoned by his father months later, one of a slew of clemencies doled out to disreputable characters by the senile former president during his final months in office.
The Democrat bar for running mates has already been set low after Hunter’s dad tapped Kamala Harris in 2020, so it’s hard to see how Newsom-Biden 2028 could be any worse.
