El-Sayed gushes over Rashida Tlaib’s ‘older sister energy’ — because apparently that’s a thing

Michigan Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed is already enmeshing himself with the likes of Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michigan.

El-Sayed’s rising stardom within the Democratic Party is a sight to behold. A political group that lost badly to Trump in 2024 and spent the next two years wandering in search of an ideology that would resonate with voters suddenly has a new breath of life thanks to El-Sayed and the DSA candidates winning in deep-blue areas. Even older party members such as Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, have been forced to embrace the new socialists that are suddenly preventing the collapse of the “big tent.”

And it would appear that he fits right in with the more radical party members like Tlaib, who he says gives “big sister” energy.

Look:

“So I got to grow up watching Rashida be an elected official, so Rashida’s like my older sister. Every time I make a mistake, I get a text message, she’s like, very much older sister energy and I’m like ‘I’m sorry,'” El-Sayed said, causing everyone in the room to crack up. “The point that I’m making is, what better joy and appreciation than to have someone looking out for you who has been there before?”
