Ellen DeGeneres’ Brit home hit by floods after fleeing Trump, some suggest it’s karma

Ellen DeGeneres is one of the few celebrities who backed up her talk to leave the country if Donald J. Trump won the election but has already found woe in her new home country.

The lesbian comic and talk show personality and her wife Portia De Rossi pulled up the stakes after the election, leaving their California mansion for an idyllic home in the English countryside, digs that are now reportedly underwater after the area was engulfed by massive flooding.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple “have been left at the mercy of raging floods which have engulfed their new multi-million pound mansion,” leaving the 43-acre property in Cotswolds “swamped in a torrent of flood water following the devastating impact of Storm Bert.”

“The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years,” a local resident told the UK-based outlet.

“The couple were left virtually marooned just days after moving into their new home after a tributary of the River Thames which runs beside the property broke its banks,” the Daily Mail reported. “Roads surrounding the hideaway have been left impassable after being deluged in five feet of water – leaving locals trapped in their homes.”

Ellen’s soggy situation didn’t get much sympathy from X users, with some suggesting that it was karma.

“DeGeneres has already moved to the Cotswolds, a rural area in south-central England, the person said, adding that her Montecito mansion, roughly 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, has been pocket-listed or will be listed soon,” Showbiz website The Wrap recently reported.

While DeGeneres hasn’t issued an official statement that she fled the U.S. because of Trump, some have suggested that the election makes a good excuse and that the real reason that she got out of dodge was to avoid the fallout over the Diddy “freak out” parties.

“There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president,” DeGeneres wrote in an Instagram post in August, in the giddy early days after Harris was installed as the Democrat nominee after the Nancy Pelosi-Barack Obama coup against Joe Biden.
