Democrats are stunned and searching for answers about why Kamala Harris was soundly rejected by America and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has a good idea of what one of the problems is.
Fetterman has emerged as a refreshing voice of sanity in his party after a rough start to his Senate career that saw him hospitalized for clinical depression, but after undergoing treatment, the old-school liberal has separated himself from modern Democrats on such major issues as support for Israel and the illegal immigration problem.
Now he’s explaining why Harris and the “woke” left-wing party’s messaging was such a turnoff to male voters who rejected being talked down to and cast their ballots for President-elect Donald J. Trump instead.
The Pennsylvania Democrat told the New York Times, “In 2016, I was doing an event with the steel workers, across the street where I live, and I was noticing different kind of energy with this, with Trump. It was clear at that time that people were voting for Trump. And the Democrats’ response was, ‘Aren’t they smart enough to realize they’re voting against their interests?’”
“And that’s insulting, and that’s, I mean, that’s, that’s just not helpful. It’s condescending. And if anything, that reinforces that kind of stereotype,” he said. “Telling them that ‘I know better than you do,’ that’s not helpful.”
Trump’s throttling of the identity-obsessed Harris was greatly aided by his appeal to men, especially his big gains with blacks and Hispanics, demographics traditionally loyal to Democrats. That is before the party came to be dominated by what veteran political strategist has referred to as “too many preachy females,” which perfectly describes Kamala.
Fetterman also spoke about the influence of billionaire Elon Musk who campaigned for Trump in Pennsylvania and has been tapped to head up the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for the incoming administration.
“Whether it’s the ‘bros,’ that negative term that perhaps even your publication uses, as a negative — it’s the bros, or, you know, males, blue-collar guys, just people. It’s very rare, in my opinion, that surrogates have ‘fanboys.’ Making fun of him or make light of it, you do that at your peril, because it is going to matter,” he said.
Asked by the outlet if his party should be talking to the “bros” as well as men and working-class voters, the senator offered some sound advice.
“Have a conversation. Have a conversation with anyone that’s willing to have an honest conversation. That’s always been the rule, and that’s what I’m going to continue. I’ve had conversations on Fox News, and they’ve played me straight. I’ve shown up on Newsmax, and they’ve played it straight,” he said.
The hoodie-clad lawmaker also criticized leftists who will react with their typical over-the-top hysteria over everything that the soon-to-be 47th president does once he takes office.
“I’m just saying buckle up and pack a lunch because it’s going to be four years of this,” Fetterman said. “And if you have a choice to freak out, you know, on the hour, then that’s your right.”
“But I will not. I’m not that dude, I’m not that Democrat. I’m going to pick my fights. If you freak out on everything, you lose any kind of relevance,” he added.
