Elon makes big announcement on ‘Zuck v Musk fight,’ including where all proceeds will go

Don’t tell Elon Musk’s mother, but his “cage match” with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg may be back on.

Musk posted a tweet Sunday announcing that not only is the fight going to happen but that it will be live-streamed on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter — which he owns, of course — it’s not clear how Zuckerberg may feel about that or if Facebook will also be streaming any such bout.

Whether Musk is trying to speak the fight into existence or not, it’s clear that there is great interest in such an event.

“Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on X. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans,” the founder of Tesla and Space X tweeted.

In another tweet, Musk shared that he is currently in training — well, as much as his busy schedule allows anyway.

“Am lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight. Don’t have time to work out, so I just bring them to work,” he claimed.

As for his strategy, Musk suggests he will take a from-the-top-of-the-ropes approach, tweeting: “Am going with [World Wrestling Entertainment] as my fighting style.”

Mother Maye Musk, 75, said back in June after first catching wind of talk of a fight that it has been “canceled,” telling people “don’t encourage this match.”

“Actually, I canceled the fight. I haven’t told them yet. But I will continue to say the fight is canceled, just in case…,” she tweeted at the time.

UFC President Dana White is hoping the billionaires are serious about squaring up and would love to host it.

“This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that’s ever been done, it would break all pay-per-view records, these guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity,” White told TMZ.

The renewed talk of a bout between the Big Tech titans produced plenty of jocularity over the weekend… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
