Elon Musk axes trash-talking employees in overnight firing spree and makes no apologies, just jokes

Twitter CEO Elon Musk is raging through the ranks of the company, reportedly going on a firing spree overnight and terminating employees by email who criticized him on the social media platform’s Slack channel, while informing them they had violated company policy.

Writer Casey Newton sent out the explosive news on Twitter, “NEW: Employees who have criticized Elon Musk in Twitter’s Slack channels were fired overnight over email. ‘We regret to inform you that your employment is terminated immediately,’ they’re being told over email. ‘Your recent behavior has violated company policy.'”

“Here’s one of the affected employees, who had pushed back on Musk’s tweets blaming performance issues on Twitter’s architecture. ‘One of the absolute best engineers we had,’ one employee tells me. ‘A legend in her area of expertise,'” he went on to tweet.

Code aesthetics engineer Yao Yue, who was the one terminated, tweeted, “After 12 amazing years and 3 weeks of chaos, I’m officially fired by Twitter. Never expected I would have stayed this long, and never expected I would be this relieved to be gone. I have a lot of stories to tell. But to my fellow (ex-)tweeps-
#LoveWhereYouWorked.”

Newton went on to tweet, “It’s important to note that Twitter has long cultivated a culture of internal dissent: ‘Communicate fearlessly to build trust.’ No internal codes of conduct have changed since Elon took over. So this is all out of the blue.”

“Employees say it appears that around 20 people have been fired so far for their Slack posts,” Newton reported.

An unapologetic Musk was brutal on Twitter as the carping rolled in over the firings.

Unusual Whales tweeted, “Elon has fired numerous employees who were critical of him on Twitter and the company’s Slack, according to Protocal.”

To which the billionaire sarcastically responded, “I would like to apologize for firing these geniuses. Their immense talent will no doubt be of great use elsewhere.”

In response to Musk being told to kiss a number of a**es over the sacking of dead weight, disrespectful employees, the Tesla CEO responded in kind, hilariously tweeting, “A tragic case of adult onset Tourette’s.”

Ian Miles Cheong noted on Twitter, “Elon Musk is firing some of the worst people who worked at Twitter. It’s too bad he had to inherit them at all and they didn’t leave on their own before he took over.”

Another person on Twitter agreed with Musk wholeheartedly, “Elon Musk did the right thing by firing his disobedient employee for talking back to him. If you’re the employee, you don’t get to talk to your boss like they’re your friend. I’m glad that happened publicly. Respect your paycheck and the person giving it to you or get fired.”

It seems Musk is being cheered for cleaning house at Twitter. The applause is deafening.
