Billionaire Elon Musk has rejected claims that he plans to spend $45 million a month to elect former President Donald Trump.
“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true,” Musk said during an interview this week with Dr. Jordan Peterson. “I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump.”
Instead, he’s created a new super political action committee (PAC) to help Trump — but certainly not to the tune of $45 million per month.
“I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom,” he later explained in a tweet. “Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.”
Yeah, it’s ridiculous.

Musk stressed in his interview with Peterson that America PAC isn’t “supposed to be a sort of hyperpartisan” organization, meaning that it isn’t directly involved with the MAGA movement. Instead, he continued, the PAC’s principles are aligned somewhat closely with MAGA.
“It’s not meant to be a sort of hyper-partisan PAC,” he said. “It’s actually the core principles this America PAC are, the intent is to promote the principles that made America great in the first place. I wouldn’t say that I’m, for example, MAGA, or Make America Great Again. I think America is great. I’m more M-A-G, Make America Greater.”
“One of those values being meritocracy, as much meritocracy as possible, so you get ahead as a function of your skill, and nothing else,” he added.
“I don’t prescribe to [a] cult of personality,” he continued, distancing himself from those who support former President Donald Trump’s candidacy solely because of his personality and not because of his policies.
That said, Musk did at least praise Trump for the “great courage” he’d demonstrated after being shot at during an assassination attempt earlier this very month
Another value he cited was “freedom,” especially from “as much government intervention as possible.”
The regulatory hand of the federal government gets heavier every year, and if some regulations aren’t rolled back, “everything will be illegal,” he said.
When asked why he’s now voting for Republicans after having voted for Democrats for so long, he pointed to several factors, including the Democrats’ open embrace of censorship and the Biden administration’s lawsuit against SpaceX.

Musk’s remarks come about a week after The Wall Street Journal ran a story claiming he intended to give Trump $45 million per month through his America PAC.
“Elon Musk has said he plans to commit around $45 million a month to a new super political-action committee backing former President Donald Trump’s presidential run, according to people familiar with the matter,” the paper reported.
“Formed in June, America PAC is focused on registering voters and persuading constituents to vote early and request mail-in ballots in swing states,” according to the Journal.
“The coalition assessed that the Democrats have historically had very robust ‘get out the vote’ campaigns and took note of the amounts of money that the Biden camp has dedicated to what are called on-the-ground efforts in swing states. America PAC will try to counter that,” the report continued.
After the report was published, Musk did post a tweet to X that suggested the report was legitimate:

It’s not clear why he didn’t initially refute the claims posited by the Journal.
During the same interview with Peterson, Musk also revealed how he was tricked into allowing his son, now a “transgender woman,” to take puberty blockers at a young age.
“It happened to one of my older boys, where I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys, Xavier,” he said. “This was before I really had any understanding of what was going on. We had COVID going on. I was told Xavier might commit suicide [if he didn’t approve puberty blockers].”
“So I was tricked into doing this. It wasn’t explained to me that puberty blockers are actually just sterilization drugs. So I lost my son essentially. They call it dead naming for a reason. The reason it’s called dead naming is because your son is dead. So my son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus,” he added.
