White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was joined by most of the press room in cracking up over a simple question about Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y.
During Monday’s briefing, NPR reporter Asma Khalid asked if the embattled representative was going to be attending the reception for new congress members. Apparently, this was quite funny to not only Jean-Pierre but many in the press room.

“Is George Santos invited?” Khalid asked, causing the room to erupt in laughter.
“I love how everybody laughed at that,” Jean-Pierre chuckled before answering the question.
“It’s an event for the new Congress so everyone is invited who is part of the new Congress,” the press secretary clarified, confirming that Santos is as welcome as all new members. However, it is unclear whether he will choose to show up for the event.
The social media reactions to this clip were mixed, with some ripping on Jean-Pierre and others doing the same to Santos:

I’m laughing at the fact that Joe Biden got busted for stealing classified documents as far back as his time in the Senate and releasing the information to his son Hunter to help him with his business dealings in Ukraine and China
