Even Cenk Uygur is ‘optimistic’ over Trump win as leftist finds common cause with MAGA

As the old saying goes, politics makes for strange bedfellows and progressive Cenk Uygur said he’s “optimistic” over President-elect Donald J. Trump’s win, a major advancement in the fight against a shared enemy.

The volatile founder of “The Young Turks” seems to have undergone a shift in attitude toward MAGA and even though he’s been a fierce critic of Trump, he tipped his hat to the soon-to-be 47th president after the toppling of Kamala Harris, the “establishment” candidate.

“I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m more optimistic now than I was before the election, even though I was so against the guy who won. I know now. MAGA is not my mortal enemy (and neither is the extreme left). My mortal enemy is the establishment. And they have been defeated!” Uygur said in a Friday post to X.

He also relished in the near-fatal blow to the mainstream media “propaganda machine” which is now on life support after they threw everything possible at Trump and failed to destroy anything other than their own already dwindling credibility.

“It’s not just that the establishment candidate lost, it’s that their media is mortally wounded. The source of their strength was not insipid politicians like Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden. The source of their strength was their propaganda machine – the mainstream media,” Uygur wrote.

“Now, online media is strong enough that their oppressive monopoly on the American mind has been broken. Now, we’re in the jungle. They hate that! I love it! This uncontrolled marketplace of ideas is where I’m home. I’d rather be in the populist woods than an establishment prison,” he added in another post, recognizing that the death of the MSM is a boon for alternative media.

X users reacted to Uygur’s newfound warming to MAGA.

But others aren’t convinced, and former “Young Turks” colleague Jimmy Dore suggested that Cenk is an opportunistic charlatan.

“This unbelievable pos ruined his show by relentlessly lying to hi audience about Russiagate & accusing Trump of working for Putin & slandering EVERYONE including Julian Assange & me over it,” he wrote on X. “Now that his audience sees through him & he looks like the demented propagandist he is, he’s now trying to sound like me to gain some sort of credibility he lost long ago.”

“He was foaming at the mouth in his enthusiasm for the Ukraine war, the Syrian war & slandered anti-war journalists in the process. Cenk is a phony & a willing propagandist who is a cancer on the political discourse in America,” added Dore, who as a principled liberal, is a member of an increasingly rare species.

“It’s amazing to see Democrats mystified as to why they’re losing to Donald Trump again. They just can’t figure it out. They’re so biased they can’t see straight. Not all, but most of his supporters hate the establishment and back him just because the establishment is against him,” Uygur wrote on X three weeks before the election.
