Missouri Attorney General Andrew Baily took to social media to say the black teen who repeatedly slammed a white teenage girl’s head into a sidewalk “should be charged and tried as an adult.”
The incident took place on Friday in Hazelwood, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, and a 15-year-old suspect was arrested on assault charges by the St. Louis County Police Department and is being held in juvenile custody.
A horrific video is making the rounds online in large part due to the sheer brutality on display. The white teen suffered a “severe head injury” when the larger teen knocked her to the ground, straddled her and began viciously smashing her head into the pavement. The victim is seen in the footage convulsing while others stand around and watch.
“This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri, or anywhere. I am praying for the victim. The criminal should be charged and tried as an adult. If the victim dies, that offense should rise to a homicide,” Bailey tweeted.

Of course, a tweet expressing his opinion is not the same as assuring that the suspect is actually charged as an adult. In an apparent play on words, Bailey tweeted later that he would do all that he could to “ensure the perpetrator is held fully accountable.”
“It deeply troubles me to hear about the horrific attack near Hazelwood East High School. My prayers go out to the victim and her family during this difficult time. I will do everything in my power to ensure the perpetrator is held fully accountable,” Bailey tweeted.

Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe also said those involved “must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
The victim, identified as Kailee, was taken to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, according to a local news station.
