Ex-NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo slapped with new sexual harassment lawsuit

After years of denied allegations, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is being sued by one of his accusers who claims he repeatedly sexually harassed her.

Brittany Commisso, who began working for Cuomo in 2017, filed the lawsuit in Albany on Wednesday under the Adult Survivors Act which, for one year, did away with the statute of limitations and allowed alleged victims to sue regardless of when the incident in question occurred.

That window of opportunity closed at midnight on Thursday, Fox News Digital reports.

After becoming a darling of the media for his COVID-19 updates, Cuomo famously resigned as governor in 2021 amid allegations that he had sexually harassed 11 women.

“I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to government, and therefore that is what I’ll do, because I work for you, and doing the right thing, is doing the right thing for you,” Cuomo told New Yorkers at the time.

“I’m a New Yorker, born and bred,” he continued. “I’m a fighter and my instinct is to fight through this controversy because I truly believe it is politically motivated, I believe it is unfair and it is untruthful and I believe it demonizes behavior that is unsustainable for society.”

In her lawsuit, Commisso accuses the disgraced governor of “continuous sexual harassment” and alleges that Cuomo retaliated against her.

She is seeking monetary damages.

Cuomo was criminally charged as a result of Commisso’s allegations, but the case was dismissed last year at the request of Albany County District Attorney David Soares. Soares described Commisso as credible but claimed he couldn’t prove the case, according to Fox News Digital.

Cuomo’s attorney, Rita Glavin, downplayed Commisso’s claims in the lawsuit, calling them “provably false which is why the Albany District Attorney dismissed the case two years ago after a thorough investigation.”

“Ms. Commisso’s transparent attempt at a cash grab will fail,” Glavin said in a statement to the press. “We look forward to seeing her in court.”

“Commisso was identified as ‘Executive Assistant No. 1’ in Attorney General Letitia James’ 2021 report accusing Cuomo of sexually harassing 11 women, including current and former state employees, from 2013 to 2020, in violation of state and federal law,” Fox News reports.

During her testimony, Commisso accused Cuomo of grabbing her behind in 2019 as they shot a selfie in the executive mansion. The governor also reached under her blouse and grabbed her breast in 2020, she claimed. He rubbed her “butt” for “at least five seconds” during the selfie incident, she testified.

Commisso’s physical appearance was routinely up for discussion in the Albany mansion, she said, and Cuomo often made sexually suggestive remarks. He would often ask her about her divorce and wondered if she’d ever had sex with other men while she was married.

On X, support for Cuomo is running thin.

“That’s what he gets for saying he might run for mayor of New York or that if he hadn’t been falsely accused of sexual harassment he’d run against Biden,” stated one user. “Obviously the Democrat mafia wants him out.”
