Fans baffled by ‘Wheel of Fortune’ co-host Vanna White’s recent fashion decision

After more than 40 years on television sporting over 7,800 different outfits, “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White left fans in dispute Wednesday as many questioned, “What the heck is Vanna White wearing today?”

At 65 years old, White’s tile-turning days may have gone the way of the dinosaur thanks to touchscreens, but her “versatile” style is something she has reportedly tried to keep relevant to appease the fans. However, during Wednesday’s episode when she walked out beside co-host Pat Sajak in a hot pink asymmetrical dress slit up to the hip to reveal black leggings underneath, some questioned both her and her stylist’s decision-making.

“Today Vanna White’s outfit did what no outfit should do unless it’s a costume party,” one user wrote on Twitter. “So many misses lately.”

Another shared a screenshot of the outfit and suggested “Vanna White’s stylist needs a day off. [What the hell].”

As further negative comments rolled in critiquing not only the incomplete appearance of the design but the color which had been likened to “Pepto Bismol,” others defended and even praised the daring outfit and her ability to pull it off.

“#vannawhite looking real sharp on @WheelofFortune tonight!!! Where you going Vanna!!! #lovingtheoutfit @TheVannaWhite,” one tweet read earning the response, “I’m loving it, too! She looks great.”

Another added fire emojis as they wrote, “Vanna is rockin’ a fashion forward dress today.”

Replying to the knock against her stylist, yet another wrote, “What’s the big deal, she looks great in this dress. Give her a break. Keep on keeping on girl!!”

Still, some comments were open for interpretation.

White has admitted that even she isn’t a fan of every outfit that she’s worn over four decades of programming and told People magazine in December, “I don’t love every outfit I wear because I feel like there’s so many millions of people that are watching and have different tastes, and I’m trying to please everybody.”

To that point, she added, “Someone else might love it, so I try to be versatile, I always say.”

Though the shoes and accessories are her own, White also explained that the outfits, none of which she has ever been allowed to keep, are returned to the designer after taping. “What happens is the designers send their clothes to the studio, I wear them, and then they take them back because most of them are samples.”

As far as her own style is concerned, White recalled how, “Thirty years ago, I started with Lion Brand Yarn Company as their spokesperson. About 15 years later, they came to me and said, ‘How would you feel about having your own line of yarn?’ And I said, ‘I would love to do that. I would love to do that, but I want to be able to give back. So I’d like to donate some of my proceeds, half of my proceeds actually, to St. Jude.'”
