FED-UP Squawk Box host loses it on Liz Warren: ‘This is the way you never lose an argument’

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) joined CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’ and things quickly got heated.

Warren attempted to defend Vice President Kamala Harris’s policy position on what would essentially amount to price controls, and this sent co-host Joe Kernan into overdrive.

The back-and-forth started when Kernan attempted to educate Warren on the potential harms and ramifications of such actions, as well as correcting some misconceptions regarding exceedingly high prices at the grocery store.

“That’s sophistry, and your example on Kraft is even worse-” Kernan said.

“Can I finish? You finished first,” Warren responded.

“Well the interview’s only going to be six minutes,” the co-host retorted.

“In any of the states around the country that already have price gouging laws in place-” the senator continued before being interrupted.

“Can I tell you why that, those are fallacious and misleading at best and your Kraft analogy is even worse,” Warren attempted to butt in but was quickly shut down. “Why can’t I tell you? Please let me tell you. Kraft you say, 440% profit increase. The example you used, the prior quarter from the year before, they had a charge of 1.3 billion dollars, and an accounting change which wiped out profits then earned what they normally- Let me finish!”

“Even — you didn’t let me finish,” Warren cut in, prompting Kernan to slump dramatically. “Look at the data. Come on. We have economic study after economic study-“

“This is the way it always goes,” he mutters, looking off-screen. “Senator, 40 million eggs were destroyed because of the avian flu.”

“When there is more concentration in an industry, we have seen much greater increases in —” she started.

“Do you attribute the inflation- that’s what you think we need to do to solve it?” he asked.

“They are not random one-offs, it is part of the problem,” she continued, ignoring his question. “When you’ve got companies that are gouging consumers on prices, consumers need to know they’ve got somebody on their side.”

After some more cross-talk, it’s obvious the host had had enough.

“This is the way you never lose an argument because no one can ever say anything back to you, senator. It’s frustrating,” he asserted.
