Federal troops arrive in downtown Chicago as racist mayor rages

Leftist leaders in the Windy City found themselves fomenting fear as law and order descended on Michigan Avenue in what was dubbed “another brazen provocation” from the White House.

For years, Democratic politicians have touted open border and sanctuary policies while claiming to be working toward ensuring public safety at the same time. Now, as President Donald Trump’s administration is deploying federal resources to crime-ravaged areas like Chicago while also cracking down on illegal aliens — including violent gang members — the city’s Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) is among those seething over the presence of federal agents “for no apparent reason.”

Sunday on X, Johnson released a statement with links to resources, akin to those previously shared by Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton (D), who found herself criticized for seemingly aiding aliens in avoiding immigration enforcement, and said, “I am closely monitoring the confirmed reports of federal agents on Michigan Ave. While Chicagoans and visitors are enjoying another gorgeous Sunday, they are being intimidated and threatened by masked federal agents flaunting automatic weapons for no apparent reason.”

“This is another brazen provocation from the Trump administration that does nothing to make our city safer,” added Hizzoner. “We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.”

Likewise, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) sounded off, “The Trump Administration’s DHS officers appear to be carrying large weapons around downtown Chicago in camouflage and masks. This is not making anybody safer — it’s a show of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and hurting our businesses.”

“We cannot normalize militarizing American cities and suburbs. Make sure you know your rights and stay alert,” he went on.

The posts from the elected officials came only days after an attack on a Dallas, Texas, U.S. Immigration and Customs facility that left two people dead, and as protests escalated at the Broadview Processing Center outside Chicago, where chants of “shoot ICE” had been heard.

In response to the ongoing violence, the White House released a list of Democratic officials with examples of their rhetoric directed at ICE, which included Pritzker comparing the nation to “Nazi Germany” because law enforcement is supposedly “grabbing people off the street … and disappearing them” while Johnson referred to the agency as “secret police” allegedly “terrorizing our communities.”

The spun narrative from those responsible for the conditions in Chicago didn’t stop members of the public from expressing their gratitude that the Trump administration was taking steps to restore law and order and challenging the rhetoric, “This is what Chicago Dems feared, that the surge in law enforcement, Feds, and national guard would actually bring down crime about [to] prove to the country that being tough on crime actually works!”

Nor did the remarks from Johnson and Pritzker detract from the message posted by U.S. Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino, who said with an accompanying video of operations in the area, “The Green Machine is rolling hard in Chicago making YOUR communities safe. Tren de Aragua terrorist member caught during THIS operation. We are here, Chicago, and we are not going anywhere.”
