Fellow inmates of alleged CEO killer yell to reporter through prison fence in bizarre live shot

There are many strange news live shots that will live in infamy, but one NewsNation reporter may have accidentally topped them all.

While outside Pennsylvania’s State Correctional Institution Huntingdon, NewsNation reporter Alex Caprariello found himself interviewing inmates through the prison fence. They all seemed to be in agreement that the man suspected of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, is experiencing awful conditions while in lockup.

Caprariello visited the facility earlier, where prisoners yelling from their windows could be heard saying “Free Luigi!” and “Luigi’s conditions suck!” That night, the reporter returned after some of the prisoners reportedly said “Tell Ashleigh Banfield that Luigi is watching at 10 o’clock.” While reporting live for ‘Banfield,’ prisoners could once again be heard yelling and seen flashing their cell lights for the camera.

It would appear that a large number of the inmates have access to things like television because they could also be heard answering questions asked on air. For example, Banfield asked if Mangione had access to a TV, and whether he was watching the program live. After a brief delay, Caprariello confirmed that the prisoners were shouting “No!” out their windows.

“Wow, this is quite something. This is the strangest interview I’ve ever conducted.” the reporter mused candidly.

Later in the clip, the camera pans over to the prison facility where prisoners begin to flicker their lights, signaling that they are currently watching the program from their cells.
