Fetterman calls out Dems and the Left just can’t deal

Senator John Fetterman continues to get under the skin of members of his own party as he boldly called Democrats out for anti-Trump rhetoric and the partial government shutdown.

As his colleagues refused to budge on funding for the Department of Homeland Security, continuing a shutdown that affects federal workers such as TSA screeners, FEMA, and the Coast Guard, Fetterman was the only Democrat arguing to fund the agency.

“This shutdown literally has zero impact on ICE functionality,” Fetterman wrote in a post on X. “Country over party is refusing to hit the entire Department of Homeland Security. Democracy demands a way forward to reform ICE without damaging our critical national security agencies.”

In an appearance on Fox News’s “Saturday in America,” the senator called out the “rot” within the Democratic Party and “the very anti-Israel part of my party.” He also addressed the Democrats’ fight against voter identification and the Save America Act, calling out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats for their “Jim Crow” rhetoric.

“I would never refer to the SAVE Act as like Jim Crow 2.0 or some kind of mass conspiracy,” Fetterman told Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany.

“But that’s part of the debate that we were having here in the Senate right now,” he continued. “And I don’t call people names or imply that it’s something gross about the terrible history of Jim Crow.”

Fetterman dismissed complaints about voter ID, saying, it is “not like a radical idea.”

“It’s not something, and there already are many states that show basic IDs. So that’s where we are in the Senate,” he added.

His refusal to bend the knee to progressives – or any Democrats putting party over country – has put the Pennsylvania senator in the crosshairs of his own party. But Fetterman has not backed down from his common-sense approach and refusal to parrot talking points that do not advance the needs of Americans.

He told Politico’s Dasha Burns in an interview that his party attacks Trump just to “pay the bills.”

“If I have something to say, it’s not going to be, you know, in an insult. It’s not going to be extreme things,” he said on The Conversation podcast. “When you have members of Congress calling him a piece of sh*t, [it’s] crazy.”

“I know some people just want the professional wrestling kind of thing. I know what pays the bills,” he continued. “Can you call someone a piece of s***? Can you now put that in an email? Can you chip in $10 to help me smash the oligarchy or whatever?”

He also called out Democrats for making the party “look like children” with their behavior at Trump’s State of the Union address last year.

He urged his fellow Democrats not to “put up those silly paddles and all those kinds of weird protests.”

“Last year, it made us look like children,” he said in the Fox News interview. “Have some dignity… we can agree or disagree and not call people names or… behave in such ways…”
