Fear and paranoia are the lifeblood of modern-day Democratic Party politics, and that is especially the case when it comes to President Donald J. Trump.
But there’s one problem for Democrats trying to milk the Trump-o-phobia: the nation’s 47th president is constitutionally term-limited and will leave office in January 2029, unless he is planning on sticking around. A conspiracy theory that has bubbled up from the depths of the vast left-wing fever swamp.
One of those peddling the idea that Trump doesn’t plan on voluntarily leaving is Florida Senate hopeful Angie Nixon, the fire-breathing radical who sprung the upset against heavily favored Resistance hero Alexander Vindman in last month’s primary and now has her sights set on going to Washington, D.C.
Nixon made her wild claim in a podcast with the left-leaning MeidasTouch’s Scott MacFarlane that he posted to X on Friday.

“This guy is laying out his plan,” she said. “He’s laying the foundation and the groundwork to not leave in 2028. He’s weaponized an agency, ICE, and created a paramilitary force designed to terrorize people in their communities to see how far he can go.”
“He’s pushing the limit, the envelope,” Nixon continued. “They’re not being held accountable for murdering people, for slaughtering people on the streets while they’re on camera, and so he’s just pushing it, and then he’s building his ballroom that we know is getting fortified, all these things…”
MacFarlane then asked, “Are you making the argument, Ms. Nixon, that you don’t think he’s gonna leave on Jan. 20, 2029?”
“He didn’t wanna leave in 2021!” Nixon responded, throwing down the “insurrection” card.
“We saw what happened, and so I honestly am concerned about what he’s going to do, and I know that he made the case a few months ago that the election was stolen from him in 2020, like he’s putting things in place to make it so that he won’t leave,” the DSA Democrat continued.
“He won’t leave willingly,” Nixon insisted. “I know that for a fact, and so people need to be on high alert as it relates to that. He’s sending out the National Guard to different cities, and so, again, he’s testing how far he can go.”
“I have had conversations with immigrants who have come from dictatorships and authoritarian governments, and they said that what is happening right now is what they have seen when these fascist and authoritarian regimes came in and took over their home countries,” she told the host.
Trump has mused – or joked – about the possibility of seeking a third term, something that is expressly barred by the 22nd Amendment.
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once,” the amendment reads.
The last U.S. leader to serve more than two terms was President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat.
