Florida Dems think Taylor Swift and her ‘Swifties’ can flip the state blue

It comes as no surprise that the Florida Democratic Party is a collection of “Swifties,” but who knew they were so committed to pop diva Taylor Swift?

Democrats in the state of Florida have been playing second fiddle to Republicans for more than two decades and the 2022 gubernatorial election was a drubbing of historic proportions, with Gov. Ron DeSantis beating his Democratic opponent Charlie Crist by nearly 20 points, drawing more than 1.5 million more votes.

All of which explains why the party is chasing the pipe dream that Swift will help flip the state blue.

Democrats are jacked over the singer naming an upcoming song on her new album “Florida!!!” They are equally excited about three concert dates in Miami less than a month before the November elections.

Matt Dailey, the deputy communications director for the FDP, sounded like a teeny-bopper when he tweeted: “Not gonna name any specific names but rest assured your friendly neighborhood @FlaDems staff are LOSING OUR MINDS.”

Typical of Democrats in the Sunshine State, his tweet drew 25 “Likes” as of this writing.

“It’s so close to the election, and we hope that there’s a message included to encourage folks, especially her fans, to go vote,” U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) said, according to Politico. “We need the help.”

Frost is the first Gen Z member of Congress and was quick to pal around with the hard-left Democratic members of “the Squad” — unfortunately for Frost, he appears less equipped intellectually than AOC is.

In fact, Florida Democrats are so desperate that they are planning an entire campaign around Swift’s album release. Then again, the party elected Nikki Fried as its chairwoman after a former Republican defeated her in the 2022 gubernatorial primary.

Caution: Adult Language

“Democrats are planning voter registration drives at her concerts and will hold listening sessions and karaoke parties of her music as part of ‘A Day of Action (Taylor’s Version)’ when her new album is released in April,” Politico reported. “They’re even going to reach out directly to Swift in the hopes that she’ll use her Miami concerts — and unfathomably gigantic platform — to talk about issues affecting the rights of young people in Florida.”

Their top issue right now is fighting to allow transgender people to change the gender on their driver’s license to match the gender they feign to be.

Former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, who is hoping to challenge incumbent Republican Sen. Rick Scott as the Democratic nominee, glommed onto the Swift fantasy.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift back to Florida!!! this October as we paint the town blue in 2024,” Mucarsel-Powell in a statement.

Count among the “Swifties” State Rep. Fentrice Driskell, the Democratic House minority leader: “Florida loves Taylor Swift. I love Taylor Swift, and any attention or light that she could shed on the challenges we face here in Florida would be welcome.”
