When presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made his dramatic entry at the Republican National Convention on Monday, his first appearance since being shot by a would-be assassin, there was a key detail about his security detail that jumped out after the failed attempt on his life.
The Secret Service detail forming a tight perimeter around the wounded former president in Milwaukee consisted of all males, which represents a dramatic change from the team protecting him over the weekend when a 20-year-old gunman was able to scale an unguarded roof some 130 yards away from the stage Trump stood on and fire multiple shots — all the while, a counter-sniper team was inside the building he used as his perch.
Some on social media suggested that Monday’s entourage represented the “A team.”

Several female agents were present on Saturday when shots rang out, and they can be seen on video reacting very poorly to the chaotic events happening around them. One agent stands out and has become the subject of countless memes on social media. In one photo, the agent appears to be cowering behind the stage, and there is an infamous video of her struggling to re-holster her weapon, failing more than one time to complete this simple task.

As seen in footage taken on Saturday, when a group of agents converged on Trump after shots rang out and used their bodies to form a human shield around the 6 ft. 3 in. candidate, the one female agent on the stage was far too short to accomplish the task, leaving Trump exposed to a potential follow-up shot.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who has a close relationship with First Lady Jill Biden, is under fire to resign for a series of inexplicable errors made that day. Diversity is an important priority for Cheatle, who has a stated goal of female candidates representing 30 percent of the overall force by 2030.
President Biden’s diversity hire Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre was asked about the “right-wing chatter” concerning female agents not being up to the task and she responded by saying any such notion is “ridiculous” — in effect, don’t believe your lying eyes.
“There’s been a lot of right-wing chatter about the female agents guarding the former president, specifically whether women are up to the job. People are noting that they’re smaller, that they weren’t able to cover the president… this is a talking point that is circulating. So, what’s your response?”

“That’s ridiculous. To your second question, obviously, it’s ridiculous,” she responded.
“I understand why you’re asking the question… the sentiments coming from that about women and not being able to do the job, that’s ridiculous. Just to be really clear about that,” KJP said. “These men and women put their lives on the line. What they’re doing is brave. And we should not discount that. We should not discount that if it’s a man or if it’s a woman. And to have that sentiment out there is unfair and it’s ridiculous.”
Here are a few responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
Not a single woman in Trump’s security detail tonight.
All-male team of tough-looking bodyguards. Trained & fully capable of doing their jobs.
