Fox News contributor Liz Peek had high praise for late-night comic and social critic Bill Maher after he called for immigrants to assimilate to American culture and singled out Muslims as a particular problem.
Maher has been one of the few voices on the left willing to condemn the “woke” excesses of the Democrat base, which he has been a vociferous critic of, and he did so again during the New Rules segment of the latest episode of “Real Time With Bill Maher” on HBO.
On Monday’s edition of “Mornings With Maria” on Fox Business, Peek went off after a clip of Maher’s remarks was shown, giving the comic his props and then taking it a step further with her own commentary on the hateful, non-assimilating foreigners and the young people who think it’s cool to hate on America.

In the clips from Maher’s show, the host said that “most immigrants still want to assimilate, but some now have this other attitude of ‘melting pot? F**k you, you melt.”
“You have to answer one question: do you like Western civilization? Because that’s what we are, and that’s not negotiable,” Maher said, adding, “It’s not ‘white values,’ these are liberal values, people fought and died to establish them and it’s not racist to say, if you want to come here to help form a more perfect union, great, but some things are too fundamental to change.”
“I love that quote,” Peek said. “I thought that was just brilliant and he’s completely right.”
“And historically, the Italians and the Irish and all these different groups have come to America, become part of the social fabric of America,” she continued. “Now we have, let’s face it, more and more Muslim countries sending people toward the United States, and within like 30 months they’ve decided that they hate America and you know 9/11 – and we deserve 9/11 and all these sort of hateful things.”
“He is totally right, these are liberal values,” Peek added. “Freedom of speech, freedom of organization, freedom of the press. I just read today where Iran is cancelling, basically threatening to put people in jail who basically criticize the government. OK, we don’t do that in this country. We don’t treat gays like they’re some sort of pariah.”
“Honestly, the young people in our country who are talking about Hamas being – Hasan Piker – Hezbollah, preferable to the United States,” she said. “Give me a break. These are not liberal values, they are not American, and I love Bill Maher for calling them out.”
Maher, who is Fox’s favorite liberal not named John Fetterman, also rejected the argument of some that criticism of Muslim foreigners and the so-called “religion of peace” is Islamophobic.
“I’m sure some of you are screaming ‘Islamophobia,’ but that’s just a bullsh*t word to cow people into not talking about this,” the old school liberal said. “This has nothing to do with non-whites becoming the majority; I don’t give a sh*t about that. I don’t give a sh*t about colors… I care about liberal values being replaced by illiberal ones.”
