The president’s “tough words” for one of its former hosts received scant coverage from Fox News, even as talk of a potential termination circulated.

Tension from the weekend spilled into Monday at the Oval Office, where President Donald Trump fielded questions from the press during an executive order signing event. It was there that he sounded off on U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro folding “like an umbrella,” a remark that earned minimal mention from her former employer from the afternoon into the evening.
A few hours after the president once again expressed his disappointment in the Justice Department dropping charges regarding alleged vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, “Special Report” fill-in host Trace Gallagher broached the subject with Fox News correspondent Lucas Tomlinson.
“On a different topic, Lucas, the president had some tough words for his U.S. Attorney in Washington, Jeanine Pirro,” he said to the reporter who’d had his own chance to ask Trump questions on Monday.
“He sure did, Trace. Today in the Oval Office, President Trump said Jeanine Pirro ‘folded like an umbrella’ after she dropped charges against three individuals in connection with the vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, including former Olympic canoeist David Hearn,” responded Tomlinson.
A clip of the remarks was then aired with the president asserting Pirro “choked” when faced with an “extremely unfriendly” judge who “Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department.”
“Jeanine Pirro made a mistake. There was vandalism,” contended the chief executive. “I was disappointed with Jeanine Pirro. Really disappointed with Jeanine Pirro. She folded like an umbrella. And people get away with things, and it’s a disgrace.”

“Pirro’s office said there’s no evidence of vandalism, instead calling it ‘botched installation,'” added Tomlinson.
The exchange was considerably more than the immediate reaction on “America Reports” as Sandra Smith and John Roberts resumed broadcasting moments after the live coverage.
Instead of a specific mention of Trump’s comments on Pirro, Smith noted how the final question came from Tomlinson before she addressed how the president “took a lot of questions” during the executive order signing event.
Meanwhile, ABC News reported that the president met with Pirro at the White House later in the day, after his “umbrella” commentary. Sources claimed to the outlet that Trump “privately mused to aides about whether he should fire Pirro.”
Later on Monday, Fox News host Laura Ingraham appeared to offer a passing remark on the subject that spoke to how important it is not to get distracted and bogged down when there are greater issues at hand, namely socialism’s takeover of the Democratic Party posing a threat to the American people writ large.
Ingraham argued, “Every moment that the voters and the commentariat waste obsessing about Trump’s Reflecting Pool Drama, the ballroom — that’s just another moment that they’re giving to the socialists to run the table with their well-produced fakery.”
