Israel’s military response to the brutality of the terrorist group Hamas has begun and the coming violence will bring “howls of outrage” from the left that could “test” America’s resolve to unequivocally support the key Middle East ally.
Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume discussed the beginning of Israel’s Operation Iron Swords, the reaction to the surprise attack that resulted in the deaths of over 900 citizens of the Jewish democracy over the weekend when civilians were slaughtered like animals in their homes, vehicles, and at an outdoor music festival.
On Monday’s edition of “Special Report,” Hume and anchor Bret Baier discussed the bloodshed that will take place in the coming days and weeks as Israeli troops conduct the dirty work of eradicating the threat from Hamas from Gaza.

“You and I have covered you know, the Middle East for a long, long time and really haven’t seen anything like this,” Baier said of the sneak attack on Israeli civilian areas on a Jewish holiday in one of the darkest days in the nation’s history.
“No we haven’t Bret, and the consequences are likely to be dire and long-lasting,” Hume responded. “For one thing, of course, we all believed, or hoped I guess, for so long that what we needed was a two-state solution. But I think it’s pretty clear now that the Palestinians, at least those who are running things in Gaza and elsewhere as well, especially in Iran,” aren’t interested in a lasting peace.
“They don’t want a two-state solution,” he told his Fox News colleague. “The only two-state solution they’d accept would be the end of Israel. I think that’s clear and that means whatever peace process we thought might be active or activated is out the window for now certainly and probably forever.”
“This conflict that’s now raging is likely to be very bloody, very violent. It’s gonna last a while. Victory, I think, will be secured, but at a frightful price on all sides,” Hume continued.
“And don’t discount the possibility that very soon, indeed, as the death count climbs and as, you as know, howls of outrage about alleged atrocities by the Israelis begin to mount, that’ll be a test of the countries in the West and particularly in the United States as to whether to stand by Israel in the face of that,” he said, predicting that the Jew-hating left’s propaganda machine will be roaring into action to portray the actions of Israel to defend itself as war crimes.
“The IDF will immediately use all its strength to destroy Hamas’s capabilities. We will destroy them and we will forcefully avenge this dark day that they have forced on the State of Israel and its citizens. As Bialik wrote: ‘Revenge for the blood of a little child has yet been devised by Satan’,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed in a statement after the cowardly attacks.
“All of the places which Hamas is deployed, hiding and operating in, that wicked city, we will turn them into rubble,” he added.
Video footage of the first day of Israel’s retaliation showed the devastation as the work of rooting out the terrorists has begun.
New drone footage shows the devastation in Gaza City, with innocent civilians caught in the crossfire as the conflict escalates between Israeli and Hamas forces.

“This war will take time. It will be difficult. Challenging days are ahead of us. However, I can promise one thing: With the help of God, the forces that we all have in common and our faith in the Eternal One of Israel, we will win,” Netanyahu said.
