Driven by their obsession with destroying former President Donald J. Trump, Democrats and their vengeful prosecutors are only making him stronger with his poll numbers going up each time that he’s indicted in a textbook example of the law of unintended consequences in action.
With Trump already well ahead of the rest of the 2024 presidential field despite his ongoing persecution by Justice Department attack dog Jack Smith, a sense of dread is slowly emerging that the indictments are only going to help the former president nail down the nomination, something that Frank Luntz is warning about.
The longtime pollster appeared on MSNBC on Saturday where he joined Ali Velshi on the host’s namesake program, discussing the upcoming GOP debate which Trump has indicated that he will skip as well as the primaries which if the indictments keep coming, may be over before they even start.

“Every single time Donald Trump is indicted, his numbers go up,” Luntz said. “And once again, we’re having the same thing. We’ve been talking about this upcoming indictment for five days now. That means Trump controls the agenda until we know when he’s been indicted, he’s sitting there on social media, giving speeches, talking about once again, why he is a victim and why he’s being persecuted.”
“And I use that word specifically,” he continued. “If the Justice Department and the various attorney generals keep doing this, Donald Trump could end up as the nominee, simply by promoting victimhood, saying that the government is against him.”
On Saturday, Trump continued his multi-day onslaught against Smith and the Biden regime, taking to Truth Social to rail against the Justice Department for what he has described as interference in next year’s election.
“WHY DIDN’T THE CORRUPT MARXIST PROSECUTORS BRING THESE RADICAL & UNJUSTIFIED CHARGES AGAINST ME 2.5 YEARS AGO, LONG BEFORE MY PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN HAD BEGUN. NOW DERANGED JACK SMITH WILL PROBABLY BRING ANOTHER CASE, ALONG WITH THE RACIST D.A. IN CRIME RIDDEN ATLANTA, WHO HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE PERFECT TIME DURING MY CAMPAIGN TO FILE. THIS IS ELECTION INTERFERENCE & PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT! THEY ARE ALL, IN A COORDINATED ATTACK, TRYING TO STEAL ANOTHER ELECTION, BUT WE WON’T LET THEM!!!” Trump wrote in a smoking all-caps missive, one of several that he fired off during the day.

“You can’t do that anymore because Trump is so different, if you want to challenge him, you have to behave like he behaves. Define the agenda. Set the context,” Luntz said, imploring competitors like Chris Christie to go on the attack.
Earlier in the week, Luntz boosted a provocative meme titled “If I was the Deep State” that went viral, apparently realizing his mistake and deleting what he described as “This is the most alarming political ad I’ve seen this year,” urging people to watch it and give him their feedback – whoops.

“If I say something that will shock. You there’s actually something more important than an election. It’s the country itself,” Luntz told Veshi in a panicked tone. “We are a razor’s edge right now. It keeps getting worse and worse. You can push the country off the edge.
“When you have 40% who don’t believe in their democracy, 35% who believe elections are being stolen, and mostly, on the Republican side. We have a problem in this country. We need to chill out, listen more, yell less and open ourselves up to different points of view. It’s not happening. And we could lose our country as a result,” he said.
