LeBron James will be missing several upcoming games but not because he used foul language on the court or hit another player as he has done recently.
The woke 36-year-old NBA star has reportedly tested positive for COVID- 19, according to TMZ which learned of his positive lateral flow test on Tuesday. The fully vaccinated James underwent three tests to confirm the positive status.
“James was given a follow-up PCR test to confirm the diagnosis. However, that test came back negative. LeBron was then given a third tie-breaker test … which came back positive,” TMZ reported, adding that he is “currently asymptomatic.”
“It’s unclear if 36-year-old James is COVID-19 positive, if he was a close contact or had a false positive,” the outlet noted. “Per the league’s rules, if James is positive, he will be away from the team either for the next 10 days or until he submits at least two negative PCR tests before returning.”
The test results news came just hours before the Lakers were set to face off against the Sacramento Kings and James ended up missing that game.
“Obviously, it’s a huge loss,” Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said ahead of Tuesday’s game in Sacramento. “It’s disappointing. We just want the best for him right now.”
This comes after a tumultuous few days in which the basketball star faced a $15,000 by the league after making an obscene gesture on court and was given a one-game suspension for hitting an opposing team’s player during a game.

James was vaccinated back in September though he had initially been “skeptical” about getting the jab,
“Everyone has their own choice to do what they feel is right for themselves and their family and things of that nature,” he told reporters at the time. “I know that I was very skeptical about it all. But after doing my research and things of that nature, I felt like it was best suited for not only me but my family and my friends. That’s why I decided to do it.”
