California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who reportedly has sights on a presidential run in 2028, has been in a full-on media campaign, to include social media, in response to the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.
Countering President Donald J. Trump on every point, Newsom tore into the president over whether the two discussed deploying the National Guard during a call — seemingly almost dropping an inadvertent F-bomb.
“He’s been a stone-cold liar about what he said we talked about,” a tired-looking Newsom told his media buddies. “He never discussed the National Guard. Period. Full stop. I would love to share with you what he actually talked about. It would send shivers up your fu– spine.”

The comment came after an activist judge ordered the president of the United States to return control of National Guard troops to Gov. Newsom — the ruling was temporarily blocked by a federal appeals court just hours later.
Perhaps Newson is just too exhausted to keep up with Trump, as he later admitted, “We discussed, for a nanosecond, Los Angeles and he immediately zigged and zagged into seven or eight other topics — some extraordinarily familiar and some extraordinarily remarkable, considering the world we live in.”
Newsom played a game of semantics earlier this week when Trump told reporters that he spoke with the Democrat “a day ago,” which would have been Monday.
“There was no call. Not even a voicemail,” the governor claimed.
Trump disputed the claim, telling Fox News he spoke to Newsom for about 16 minutes on Saturday, after his first call was ignored.
“I told him to, essentially, ‘get his ass in gear’ and stop the riots, which were out of control,” President Trump said. “More than anything else, this shows what a liar he is — said I never called.”
White House director of communications Steven Cheung clarified that the call did happen.
“The president called Gavin Newsom to tell him to get his ass in gear. The governor has clearly decided to disgustingly side with the violent rioters instead of protecting Californians. The only liar here is Newsom who continues to fail his state as he prioritizes doing interviews with leftist media to gaslight the public instead of helping his state,” Cheung said in a statement.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
Did Gavin Newsom almost say “it would shivers up your fucking spine?”

I think he went past almost.

Didn’t he start out by saying Trump never called?

Nothing would tickle me more than if Trump recorded their convo and he brings that receipt, too.
Gavin Newsom is such a liar.
