Gender reveal turns deadly when plane crashes

A gender reveal party turned deadly when a participating plane crashed while playing its role, killing the 32-year-old pilot.

The event took place on Saturday in Sinaloa, Mexico, with the expectant mother and father standing in front of an “Oh baby” sign surrounded by pink and blue balloons. The plan was for the plane to fly over the happy couple and release pink-colored water to signify that they were having a girl.

But as the pilot did so and began a rapid climb, one of the plane’s wings appeared to crumble causing the the aircraft to nosedive into the ground. For a split second, those on the ground did not comprehend the tragedy unfolding as they celebrated the supposedly joyful moment with cheer as the couple kissed.

The Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft fell to the ground and the pilot, Luis Angel N., was found lying in the rubble after the crash, according to the Daily Mail.

Angel was rushed to hospital but did not survive the crash, according to the Aviation Safety Network.

“Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee crashed after the left-hand wing failed after an emergency hopper release of (pink dyed) water during a gender reveal party,” the agency said.

The moral of the story, at least in the eyes of many on social media, is that maybe it’s time to put an end to gender reveal parties — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
