George Conway-backed attack ads dredge up old Trump accusers: ‘I felt sick inside’

Advancing the appearance of corporate media coordination against the former president, George Conway’s PAC released testimonial ads from accusers as a “predator” narrative was rekindled.

Earlier in 2024, the public watched as E. Jean Carroll made a talking head victory tour to celebrate being awarded over $83 million in her defamation suit against former President Donald Trump. As Election Day neared within six weeks, George Conway’s Anti-Psychopath political action committee showed old attacks were new again as ads featuring sexual assault accusers premiered.

Wednesday morning, the PAC dropped spots set to feature during the NewsNation vice presidential debate as well as on Republican-favored networks that included allegations from People magazine journalist Natasha Stoynoff and former saleswoman Jessica Leeds.

“At one point, [Melania Trump] went upstairs to change her clothes for the next photo shoot, and Trump said to me, ‘I want to show you this beautiful painting, this beautiful room,'” alleged Stoynoff as she provided her account of a 2005 visit to Mar-a-Lago to interview the billionaire and his wife. “He leads me to this room, pushes me against the wall, and starts kissing me forcefully. I tried to push him. He kept coming back at me.”

“I was in shock and smothered, and he had his hands here against my shoulders. I felt sick inside. I felt horrified, and thank goodness the butler charges into the room. Like many women, I blamed myself,” she went on. “So Trump turned to me and said, ‘You know we’re going to have an affair, don’t you?’ and Melania was approaching. I was horrified.”

Likewise, Leeds recalled a story dating back to 1979 as she contended she’d been invited to sit in first class during a flight, “The airplane took off, and all of a sudden Donald Trump started groping me. He was trying to kiss me and I’m trying to push him away. He was basically overpowering me. When he started putting his hand up my skirt I got out of the seat, grabbed my purse, and went back to my original seat and I certainly was shook up by the whole thing.”

She went on to claim that two years later Trump saw her and said, “I remember you. You’re that c*nt from the airplane.”

Both ads referenced the Access Hollywood tape that had featured prominently in the final weeks of the 2016 election and premiered in the wake of pundits criticizing a pitch to women voters, “I want to be your protector.”

“You will no longer be abandoned, lonely, or scared,” Trump said during a Monday rally in Pennsylvania. “You will no longer be in danger. You’re not going to be in danger any longer. You will no longer have anxiety from all of the problems our country has today. You will be protected, and I will be your protector.”

The take had many suggesting the president was being “creepy” while others asserted he was a “predator” rather than a protector.

Earlier this year, Conway, who’d previously been married to Trump’s 2016 campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, had been included in a report of talking heads allegedly attending meetings hosted by CNN legal analyst Norman Eisen that were said to include the likes of Bill Kristol, Jeffrey Toobin, and Laurence Tribe.

“It runs the risk of creating the impression that there is an agreement or cooperation or conspiracy across mainstream media entities,” an individual told Politico for their coverage. “And that could feed into some false and damaging perceptions, particularly on the right.”

Meanwhile, it was worth reminding that Melania Trump’s attorney issued a cease and desist letter to Stoynoff when she ran a story in 2016 said to have included “false and completely fictionalized” statements about a supposed encounter with the future First Lady.

Further, Trump’s former butler Anthony Senecal asserted, “No, that never happened. Come on, that’s just bull crap,” regarding Stoynoff’s claims about the businessman.
