Gingrich calmly destroys Juan Williams’ defense of Hunter Biden: ‘They were investing in Joe!’

Liberal Fox News contributor Juan Williams’ attempt to defend Hunter Biden against claims that he sold access to his then-vice president dad to foreign leaders via corrupt business deals was systematically shredded by former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich on “Fox News Sunday” this weekend, in an exchange that expertly dismantled the notion that President Joe Biden is simply trying to protect his drug-addicted son.

“We know Hunter Biden’s an addict, we know he’s an alcoholic. We know he’s had sex addiction problems. We know he’s not the son you would have,” Williams began. “But Joe Biden acted as a father trying to protect his son and try to help his son. I don’t think anyone’s gonna fault him for that.”

Williams then quickly pivoted to the left’s go-to argument for everything that could prove damaging to the Biden administration: What about Trump?

“But you compare that to the graft and the grifting from Trump golf courses, Trump hotels, Chinese shoe deals with the daughter, the son-in-law getting billions from the Saudis,” he said. “It’s unbelievable.”

Investigations into what could prove to be the biggest scandal to involve a sitting president in the history of the nation is merely a means to distract the American public from “all the trouble” former President Donald Trump is facing, according to Williams.

“Even this week you have to compare it to the trouble we’ve heard about in New York with the sexual assault case against Trump,” he said. “But this is what Hunter Biden has come down to now. He is a distraction, a shield against all the trouble that Trump is experiencing.”

In quick order, Gingrich toppled Williams’ emotional argument with “facts.”

“The widow of the Moscow mayor sent millions of dollars to Hunter Biden,” Gingrich replied. “He got money from Kazakhstan. He got money from Ukraine and served on a board about which he knew nothing. He got a lot of money from China and it’s a fact Juan, that there were $3 million that has been disclosed that went to the Biden family from a Chinese billionaire. That is a fact.”

“Now you can decide that none of this stuff matters, but the fact is you have the vice president of the United States taking his son on Air Force Two into China where his son is making business deals,” he continued. “And you just described his son. Your language: he’s a sex addict, he’s an alcoholic.”

Suddenly, Williams reversed course and decided that “nepotism” is only bad if it involves a Trump child.

“Is that an attack on the president?” he asked Gingrich. “He’s not the president! He’s the son! Nepotism is not a crime. You look at the nepotism in every president and every famous family, but that’s not a crime!”

Co-host Shannon Bream quickly pointed out her colleague’s hypocrisy.

“But Juan!” she exclaimed. “You brought up the Trump family! So is there a double standard here?”

Williams tried another approach.

“Look, I think you have a son, Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, who might make some business deals. Newt describes this as millions flowing to the family,” he said. “Kind of a Morpheus. But I know specifically of two billion dollars that went to Jared Kushner and nobody’s gonna argue about that.”

Gingrich didn’t bother addressing Williams’ “whataboutism,” because Williams had already succeeded in making Gingrich’s point for him.

“My only point is, if you listen to [Williams’] description of Hunter, why would anyone invest in Hunter?” he asked. “They were investing in Joe!”
