Legendary conservative commentator and radio show host Glenn Beck has written an open letter to X owner Elon Musk about the “economic terrorism” he’s facing.
Published on Friday, the letter begins by praising Musk for taking a bold stand against Media Matters and the companies who’ve blindly accepted its lies and smears.
“I appreciated your words at the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday. Keep fighting the system. It is corrupt, and you are right about Media Matters for America,” the letter begins.
“I have worked at CNN and Fox News. You would not believe how many ‘journalists’ base not only their stories but also their worldviews on Media Matters’ emails and posts,” the letter continues.
.@elonmusk – keep fighting the system. It is corrupt and you are RIGHT about Media Matters. I have worked at CNN and FOX – you would not believe how many ‘journalists’ base not only their stories, but also their worldview off MM emails and posts.

As previously reported, Media Matters recently launched a smear campaign against X — one based on lies.
“[A] report from … Media Matters … found advertisements for top brands — including Apple, IBM, Oracle and Comcast’s Xfinity, a telecoms company, and Bravo, the TV network — next to posts touting ‘pro-Nazi’ views,” the Financial Times reported at the time that all this first started.
“Media Matters released another report … showing that ads for companies including Amazon, NBA Mexico, and NBCUniversal’s brand agency had appeared next to content with white nationalist tags,” the paper added.
According to Fox Business Network, an X executive pushed back on the attack by saying that the platform was “not intentionally placing a brand actively next to this type of [anti-Semitic] content, nor is a brand actively trying to support this content with placement.”
They added that groups like Media Matters “aggressively search for posts and then go to the accounts, and if they see an ad… keep hitting refresh to capture as many brands as possible.”
Despite this pushback, numerous advertisers, including Disney, promptly fled X after Media Matters’ report was published. Responding to this exodus, Musk said last Wednesday at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit that said advertisers can get lost.

Musk has also filed a lawsuit against Media Matters.
Continuing his open letter, Beck also warns Musk about the discredited Poynter Institute.
“While you’re at it, take a look at the rat’s nest that is the Poynter Institute. They have been practically demanding that journalists tell ‘a story’ as opposed to reporting the facts. What they preach, teach, and fund is straight-up propaganda,” he explains.
Beck then turns his attention back to Media Matters and its very nasty chairman and president, Angelo Carusone, by describing the time Carusone convinced Mercedez-Benz to not advertise on his program.
“Many times, Carusone and his comrades gathered a list of names of advertisers that never advertised on my program and demanded that they promise never to advertise. A great example is when Media Matters announced that Mercedes-Benz would not advertise on my program. Well, at the time, my radio show had been on air for 30 years, and Mercedes-Benz had never advertised with me,” he writes.
“Media Matters tried to make it look like Mercedes-Benz rejected me because I was some kind of Nazi. Meanwhile, the world has pictures of Adolf Hitler riding around waving while in Mercedes’ product. I welcomed the fight with Mercedes over who really loved Nazis,” he continues.
Getting to his core point, Beck then describes Media Matters’ behavior as pure “economic terrorism.”
“Many times, companies go with Media Matters’ demands not because they agree with them but rather because they are told, ‘If you don’t, then we’ll let our radicals loose on you, too.’ If that isn’t economic terrorism, I don’t know what is,” he explains.

The key to fighting against this “economic terrorism,” he continues, is “following the money” back to the “well-funded network of radicals and far-left donors” who keep funding Media Matters, including George Soros, the Ford Foundation, and even Hillary Clinton.
“In 2021, Soros-associated groups gave hundreds of thousands to Media Matters, and they have provided millions in total since David Brock founded the organization in 2004. In 2010, for example, Soros personally donated $1 million to Media Matters,” Beck notes.
“The Ford Foundation, another financier of radical causes, gave $4 million to Media Matters between 2010 and 2015. Other far-left organizations behind Media Matters include the Tides Foundation (Soros), MoveOn (Soros), and the Democracy Alliance (Soros). Together, those foundations and nonprofits have funneled billions to left-wing groups over the past decade,” he continues.
Concluding his letter, Beck describes Media Matters “a mouthpiece for the far left masquerading as a watchdog,” and a “business … built on lies and money from dangerous people like Soros.”
“If X wins its lawsuit, Media Matters may not survive. Good. It doesn’t deserve to,” he adds.
