Good news, y’all! Jean-Pierre clarifies inflation isn’t a crisis: ‘We’re just in a difficult time’

If there was an award for downplaying a serious economic issue impacting the United States, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would take gold.

On Tuesday, she was asked whether President Joe Biden acknowledges the severity of the 40-year-high inflation around the country, and whether or not such high prices constitute a “crisis.” Jean-Pierre responded that the president realizes “the hardship” Americans are currently facing.

When the questioning reporter attempted to pin her down on specific language, particularly calling the current situation a “crisis,” she recoiled from the word. Instead, she claimed “[w]e’re just in a difficult time.”
