If there was an award for downplaying a serious economic issue impacting the United States, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would take gold.
On Tuesday, she was asked whether President Joe Biden acknowledges the severity of the 40-year-high inflation around the country, and whether or not such high prices constitute a “crisis.” Jean-Pierre responded that the president realizes “the hardship” Americans are currently facing.
When the questioning reporter attempted to pin her down on specific language, particularly calling the current situation a “crisis,” she recoiled from the word. Instead, she claimed “[w]e’re just in a difficult time.”
Reporter: “Does [Biden] consider it a crisis for American families that prices are at this 40-year-high?”
Jean-Pierre: “He understands the hardship that people are going through.”
“So is it a problem, is it a hardship, is it a crisis?”

“My advice to everyone out there who’s frustrated, sad, angry, pissed off: feel those emotions, go to a kickboxing class, have a margarita, do whatever you need to do this weekend, and then wake up on Monday morning, we gotta keep fighting” – Psaki 1/21/22
That’ll fix things 🤣

Easy for her to say, 2/3 of her meals, all her travel and gas is on the taxpayer dime. She probably even hasn’t noticed.

They have no problem coming up with made-up crises like the “climate crisis,” but gas prices barreling to double digits — totally unheard of and completely unimaginable — is just a difficult time.
