A Republican New York City councilwoman from Queens sparked outrage with her call for Western nations to expel Muslims in the aftermath of the horrific slaughter of Jews celebrating Hannukkah in Bondi Beach, Australia, over the weekend.
Fifteen people were killed, and more than 40 were injured when a pair of terrorists opened fire on them as they celebrated the Jewish holiday, an antisemitic act of carnage that shocked the world, leading some to propose drastic measures.
In a now-deleted post to X, Councilwoman Vickie Paladino said that it’s time for Western nations to acknowledge the “global jihad” and to “get serious” about the removal of Muslims from their societies.

“We’re in the midst of a global jihad the likes of which the world has never seen, and we cannot ignore it,” Paladino wrote. “We need to take very seriously the need to begin the expulsion of Muslims from western nations, or at the very least the severe sanction of them within western borders.”
“The administration needs to begin developing a formal legal framework for the denaturalization process and get it over with before we end up with another 9/11 or worse. Enough is enough,” the post read.
It was a post that immediately led to Democrats howling Islamophobia, including Ugandan-born Muslim socialist Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who will take office in a few weeks after easily winning the city’s mayoral election last month.
“A million Muslims live in New York City. We belong here, as does every other New Yorker. This is vile Islamophobia from the Councilwoman and it has no place in our city,” wrote the incoming mayor, pointing out that the Big Apple is teeming with Muslims, most of whom likely voted for him.

The deleted post has resulted in calls for Paladino to be punished, with a formal censure proposed by outgoing City Comptroller Brad Lander, who described the post as “disgusting — and utterly unacceptable.”

“This is vile. Councilwoman Paladino’s attitude must be rejected by our city government, and has no place outside a white supremacist rally,” wrote NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. “How can someone claim to represent New Yorkers when they show such hatred toward a million of them?”

The councilwoman, who also shared a post that declared “These Evil Islam ANIMALS hate everybody,” blasted the outrage as an affront to the First Amendment.
“It’s been clear for a while that progressives don’t value freedom of speech, but I find it very funny that they’re so apocalyptic about this tweet, while their own social media accounts and those of their leftist allies in the DSA spew some of the most toxic, violent, and anti-American rhetoric on a daily basis,” Paladino said in a statement.
“Once again, progressives are acting like the PR wing and defense attorneys for radical Islam after a wave of terror attacks, and the West is going to have to deal with this dangerous reality soon enough,” she added.
