Former “Good Day Orlando” host Ryan Elijah unseated Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., on Tuesday night.
Mills faced a number of issues in his pursuit of a third term, including struggling to fundraise amid a House Ethics Committee probe into “serious and complex” claims against him. The allegations included financial misconduct, stolen valor and domestic assault.

“Of particular concern to the bipartisan panel is the DC Metropolitan Police Department investigation into a report that the congressman attacked a female Republican activist at his penthouse in the nation’s capital in February 2025,” The New York Post reported.
“The ethics committee is also investigating a court injunction issued in October 2025 restricting Mills’ social media usage and contact pertaining to a woman — likely his ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Langston,” the report continued. “The beauty queen, who was in a relationship with Mills until February 2025, accused him of harassment via text, including one May 15, 2025, message in which he told her, ‘Strap up cowboy’ — which she interpreted as a warning that he would release videos of the two ‘engaging in sexual acts,’ according to a report to the Columbia (Fla.) County Sheriff’s Office on July 14, 2025.”
While President Donald Trump had previously thrown his support behind Mills, he did not use his Truth Social account to encourage voters to turn out for the incumbent in the days leading up to the primary.
Meanwhile, Elijah enjoyed the support of Rep. Anna Paulina Luna and Mike Haridopolous, amid dozens of other endorsements. He says this level of support shows that Mills had “lost trust and confidence” from his fellow lawmakers as well as voters.
“This isn’t personal for me. I’m in it so we don’t lose this seat,” he explained during a debate.
He will now have to face off against Navy veteran, former top NASA official, and Democrat Bale Dalton for Florida’s 7th District seat. The Cook Political Report indicates that the race is “Likely Republican,” which means Dalton will be fighting an uphill battle going into the general election.

Very proud of the fact that I was able to switch several votes to Ryan Elijah as a FL 7 constituent from low information voters.

When the system only allows for eligible legal voters, the system works. Great to see the voice of the people have been heard
