In what reads like a Hollywood horror movie, a GOP lawmaker has opened an investigation into reports of “human safari” trips to Sarajevo.
“Regarding the alleged ‘murder tourism’ discussed below, I have opened an investigation into this matter and am in contact with the Bosnian Consulate as well as the Italian Embassy,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) posted on X.
“Paying money to shoot civilians—and even worse to shoot children—is a level of evil our country cannot and will not tolerate,” Luna said. “Both the Italian and Bosnian governments will be sharing any and all information regarding any AMERICANS that may be implicated. If there are any Americans who have engaged in this, they deserve to be charged and prosecuted.”

In a follow-up post, Luna added, “Taking murders off our streets is America First. Americans may have paid to travel to murder people for sport. Hence the investigation. That is OUR issue. Murder is murder.”
Her statement is based on the following reporting from the New York Post:
Wealthy “sniper tourists” allegedly paid upward of $90,000 to shoot people during “human safari” trips to Sarajevo in the 1990s — with an extra fee to kill children, according to wild claims being probed by Italian prosecutors.
ADVERTISEMENTThe investigation was sparked after an Italian writer alleged he had uncovered evidence that wealthy gun enthusiasts — dubbed “sniper tourists” — would pay Bosnian Serb forces for the chance to gun down residents at random during the four-year siege of the city, the Guardian reported.
The reporting noted that this was allegedly done for “fun,” and that there were no religious or political motivations. People from multiple countries allegedly paid to randomly shoot civilians.
This is one of the most evil demonic things I’ve ever seen

As serious as the allegations may be, and having a U.S. congresswoman getting involved elevates the charges, there were plenty of skeptics who doubted the veracity of the story. On the other hand, there are plenty of people who believe the story is possible.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the claim, as seen on X:
Multiple red flags here. 1) “the guardian reported”, 2) “gun enthusiasts paid”
I’m gonna call it right there, especially with the heavily edited and jump-cut video, this is just more leftist anti-gun, anti-success (“rich tourists”) propaganda.

This report is anti-Serb propaganda put out by Bosnian and leftist activists to frame both the Serbs and rich people as evil. I would not buy into it.

So, we gonna start talking about the human hunting parties the elites have been having for centuries?
Or are we just gonna act like this is a random, one-off sorta thing?

Respectfully Ms. Luna, this is most likely an urban legend/tall tale run wild. During the war it was pretty well video documented when civilians were shot they were shot by trained snipers not civilians taking pot shots. Serb paramilitary groups like Arkan’s Tigers were…

@RepLuna – Please see this through to make sure there is accountability. I don’t want to read any more heartbreaking stories of the most vile, evil acts only to see them fall out of the news and no one be held accountable.
This is one of the worst news reports I’ve ever read.— Harley Butter Bee (@HarleyButterBee) November 13, 2025
If this turns out true, it’s pure barbarism hiding under some sick thrill tourism. The State Department better haul every American involved into court, names public, no excuses.
