U.S. Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., is taking a stand on President Donald Trump’s Kennedy Center renaming.
The president has been battling both critics and the courts after adding his name to the Kennedy Center, and now the senator is weighing in on the matter with his own take.

Kennedy joined “Face the Nation” to address a government ad praising the president that ran during a National Football League (NFL) game on Sunday, where he tied the Kennedy Center debacle into his answer.
“First is to Secretary Noem, what she did was masterclass dumb,” he said. “She spent $220 million on commercials about her, and I called her out on it-”
“This looks like a commercial about Trump,” host Margaret Brennan said, cutting off the rest of the senator’s response.
“I was just gonna say, Margaret, I don’t think any public official, including President Trump or Kristi Noem or John Kennedy, should spend public money on private ads for themselves. Now, the White House sees it differently. But I think there ought to be a rule, and there probably is a rule, that you can’t spend public money to promote yourself,” Kennedy continued. “I may end up with a sombrero on my head, but I also think we ought to have a rule that no politician can have a building named after him when he’s alive.”
Kennedy referenced Trump’s previous mockery of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer:
