Texas Gov. Greg Abbott talks a good game when it comes to his efforts to secure his state’s border with neighboring Mexico, all the while the illegal immigrants keep coming in record numbers — with the U.S. entering President Biden’s third year in office, the numbers are fast approaching 6 million.
On Sunday, Abbott posted a video on Twitter of a border wall being constructed, along with the caption, “Texas is building our own border wall.”

In June 2021, the Republican governor announced Texas would be taking decisive action to expand the border barrier, essentially picking up where the Trump administration left off. The announcement came as Abbott introduced a comprehensive border security plan to crack down on unlawful border crossings — a plan that has, however, done little to slow the invasion of humanity along the border.
In December, after months of negotiating with private property owners, he announced that the state would be resuming construction on the border wall.
“More border wall is going up next month,” Abbott tweeted. “It took months to negotiate with private property owners on the border for the right to build on their property. We now should be building more border wall all of next year.”
There are two sections of the wall now contracted to be built.
“The border wall construction project has been under development for months after the Texas Facilities Commission approved a $167 million contract with Southwest Valley Constructors Co. The project is intended to erect a nearly seven-mile border wall in the Del Rio area,” Fox News reported. “A second contract was also inked with construction company BFBC of Texas to construct a separate seven-mile wall in the Rio Grande Valley.”
Abbott also named a “border czar” for the state at a news conference last week, saying the new position is “a full-time job that requires a leader whose only focus is responding to President Biden’s open border policies.”

Former Border Patrol Agent Mike Banks, who served for 23 years in the agency, was tapped, according to Border Report.
“I’m humbled. I really am,” Banks said. “I’m very passionate about securing our border and so I’m completely humbled and grateful for the opportunity Greg Abbott has given me. The governor is very serious about securing Texas’ border and I’m excited about this opportunity.”
And still, they keep coming — from all over the world:
NEW: We witnessed three Chinese nationals cross illegally into Mission, TX in the RGV while we were with @TxDPS troopers. The Chinese migrants said they paid $35,000 each to smugglers to cross into the U.S. on rafts. Smugglers typically charge Chinese a much higher rate. @FoxNews pic.twitter.com/DIiNfYIUYd
