Gov Newsom slammed for joining Truth Social to ‘call out’ GOP lies, highlights ‘murder problem’ in red states

While one might think that California Gov. Gavin Newsom had more pressing matters to tend to than trolling Republicans on social media, the Democrat is doing just that.

Newsom announced on Thursday that he had joined former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform specifically to call out “Republican lies.”

“I just joined Trump’s Truth Social. Going to be on there calling out Republican lies. This could get…interesting. My first post — breaking down America’s red state murder problem,” Newsom tweeted.

The governor posted a video message on the platform, “I know we’re all on this platform in search for the truth. But the truth is I’ve not been able to find a simple explanation for the fact that we have a red state murder problem.”

Newsom goes on to say that eight out of the top 10 states with the highest murder rates in the U.S. are Republican-run. This being a classic case of using statistics to mislead people.

It’s also a Democrat staple, manipulating statistics to produce preferred results — the intent being to convince you that you’re safer in New York City, Chicago or Los Angeles than you are in Wichita, Kansas or Anchorage, Alaska.

Meanwhile, in what is being called “The California Exodus,” more than 360,000 people left the Golden State in 2021 for states like Texas, Arizona, and Washington, according to CNBC.

The high cost of living — AAA reports that the average price for gas is $6.42 and CNBC noted that the median asking price for a home in California is about $797,470 — and soaring crime is driving people out of the state in droves.

The situation is so bad that thousands of residents are fleeing south of the border TO MEXICO for a “more relaxed and affordable lifestyle,” the business news network reported.

Then again, California is a one-party state when it comes to statewide elections, so as long as Newsom has a “D” next to his name, he’s good to go. This was seen last year during a recall effort following his extreme, hypocritical pandemic lockdown policies.

His tone-deafness was on display last week when he commented on San Francisco voters recalling radical left district attorney Chesa Boudin, the offspring of Weather Underground domestic terrorists involved in the killing of two police officers and a Brinks guard. Boudin’s progressive criminal justice policies were more favorable to criminals than they were to residents.

Newsom said in an interview last week that while Boudin’s recall was “predictable” it wasn’t an “arbiter of something farther reaching.”

“I think the issue in San Francisco, in particular, is people want the streets cleaned up – period. Full stop. Enough,” he told FOX 11. “They want the streets cleaned up. They want a sense of order from the disorder they’re feeling on the streets.”

“Now crime’s a component of that but there’s a lot of conflation of those issues,” including mental health, open use of drugs, drug dealing and “the dirtiness in parts of the city. And tag, the DA was it, meaning there was some attachment of accountability and responsibility,” Newsom added.

These problems largely being a product of Democratic policies, critics argue.

There was a suggestion from actor Adam Baldwin that Newsom’s post on Truth was a sign he plans to run for president in 2024. Here’s that tweet and a few other responses to the story from Twitter:
