Greg Gutfeld was not about to let Harold Ford Jr. get away with manipulating the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting narrative.
Tension exploded on Fox News’s The Five when Ford appeared to downplay the WHCD shooting as just another example of gun violence in a country with frequent “mass shootings,” rather than a targeted attempt on President Donald Trump’s life amid a waterfall of violent, hateful vitriol from leftists. Gutfeld addressed the issue with his signature humor and snark, not allowing Ford

“‘If I don’t win, there will be a bloodbath in this country,'” Ford read, quoting a post from the president regarding dire consequences for the car industry.
“Oh come on!” Gutfeld exclaimed.
“So, Greg, so,” Ford began as the two talked over each other.
“He was talking about the automotive industry, Harold,” Gutfeld said. “Gee whiz. We’re not that dumb.”
“But Greg, other people may not digest it like you’re digesting it,” Ford suggested. “My only point to you is, if we believe that this is a one-sided thing-” Ford said before his co-host cut him off.
“It is a one-sided thing,” Gutfeld laughed, collapsing in his chair.
The pair argued over mass shooting statistics, with Gutfeld claiming that many, if not all, of the 101 recorded instances were attributable to gang violence. Meanwhile, Ford insisted that none of them were gang-related, as Greg pointed out that statistics also show that “the murder rate is the lowest in history.” With these two seemingly opposing statistics being true, Harold was forced to abandon this point and move on.
“My point is, we have gotten to a point in our country where violence is- I understand my opinion is not popular here at this table, but the reality is what it is, and gun violence is excessive, irresponsible, and uniquely American,” Ford charged. “And we need to understand that.”
“Uh, okay. I just think ideology is really easy to take hold, but it’s even worse when you have your hand in it,” Gutfeld responded, condemning the journalists who insinuated that the shooting was about them.
“I think there’s a commonality in all of these; they can’t see around corners. They’re consistently wrong on all political and moral matters. The laptop is fake, the pee tape is real. Women can have d**ks, men can menstruate. This is all due to a filter that says Trump is deranged. And that has screwed up everything they see. If they just change the filter, they’d actually be happy people and they would probably make the world a better place,” he concluded. “Including you, Harold, so in your face.”
