Hannity apologizes to Fetterman, admits he had him all wrong in unexpected sit down

Fox News host Sean Hannity sat down with Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pennsylvania, for an “interview no one expected.”

The unlikely pair sat down for an episode of Hannity’s podcast Hang Out, where they reached across the aisle to have a productive discussion on a number of issues facing Americans and the United States today. There was even an apology from Hannity, who admitted that he had the senator pegged “all wrong.”

“So, but this is the funny part. I run into you and I was all in Dr. Oz,” Hannity explains. “Dr. Oz has been a longtime friend of mine. So, I was going hard at you on air.”

“Oh, yeah,” Fetterman responded.

“Did you know that?” the host asked.

“Yeah. And see, it’s like, the kind of thing I never really, you know, took it personal, and now we’ve always been able to just kinda get to know each other in real life,” the senator said. “I was actually happy to be on your show, and now I’m just honored to be here, too, on your new podcast.”

“This is the untold story. The untold story is, so, I walked up to you, and I said, ‘Senator, very nice to meet you.’ I said, ‘You should hate me. I’m an asshole.’ And I don’t know if you remember that part,” Hannity said candidly. “Because by that time, I’d begun to realize I had you all wrong. Everything I  thought about you, and I really believed it was wrong.”

Fetterman’s response was nothing but class, showing Americans how things could be if they really got to know their neighbors instead of sticking labels on them due to their beliefs and party affiliation.

“That’s a truth about today now. And when you actually have a chance to sit down and have conversations, that’s why I’m always committed to doing that and sit down. And I don’t have grudges or [anything,] I just want to have these conversations,” he said. “I’ll give you an example. your colleague Bret, you know, invited me to his book signing and Dr. Oz was there, and this would be the first time we actually were in the same space, you know, before that debate and I was like, ‘Dang, Dr. Oz,’ and you know, I wasn’t there to razz him or anything. And he was not sure what I really wanted, but Dave McCormick was there, too. And then finally, we were like selfieing and whatever that kind of- moved past all of those things because a lot of it’s professional wrestling in some sense. But I’ve really always had the kind of campaign, I never be personal or really nasty and say some of those things. And primarily, I focused on- I just really, you know, kind of poke fun at Dr. Oz of living in New Jersey, which he did.”
