Harris to go all-in on abortion as real issues no longer matter

Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly begun to make abortion a central theme of her presidential campaign.

“On Monday, Harris told campaign staff in Wilmington, Delaware, that she would prevent Republicans from enacting a national ban because ‘the government should not be telling a woman what to do with her body,'” according to Politico.

“On Tuesday, she concluded a rally in a Milwaukee suburb by promising to sign legislation that would ‘restore reproductive freedoms.’ And on Wednesday, the Harris campaign said it plans to counter former President Donald Trump’s rally in Charlotte with an abortion-focused event in North Carolina featuring Hadley Duvall, a Kentucky woman who was raped by her stepfather when she was 12,” Politico reported.

Democrats reportedly always intended to make abortion a central theme going into the 2024 race but were distracted for a few weeks by concerns over President Joe Biden’s senility. But with him out of the race, they’re now pushing fully ahead with abortion as their uniting theme.

“We who believe in reproductive freedom will stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans because we trust women to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do,” Harris said at the Tuesday rally. “And when Congress passes a law to restore reproductive freedoms, as president of the United States I will sign it into law.”

FYI, former President Donald Trump has no intention of pursuing “extreme abortion bans.” Like he’s stated dozens of times, he intends to leave abortion up to the states.

Baby-killing activists are for their part super thrilled over Harris’ focus on abortion. Take Mini Timmaraju, the president of Reproductive Freedom for All, and Christina Reynolds, the senior vice president for the abortion rights political action committee EMILYs List.

“Having her at the top of the ticket, with her proven record, with her authenticity on this issue, with her passion and with her prosecutorial skills, going after the guy — the criminal — who’s responsible for this crisis, it’s already so energizing,” Timmaraju told Politico.

“It’s going to make sure this issue is front and center for the election, as it should be because it’s the top persuasion issue of this election,” she added.

Reynolds meanwhile told The Hill that Harris is an “incredibly compelling messenger” when it comes to abortion.

“She has spent her career talking about this issue and centering it,” she said. “When she talks about it, it helps move young voters to turn out for Democrats. It helps move women including independent women. It helps move voters of color. This is a coalition, you know, that that helps Democrats win the White House.”

Then there’s Ryan Stitzlein, the vice president of political and government relations at Reproductive Freedom for All. Speaking with The Hill, he claimed that abortion is a losing issue for the right.

“They know when they’re talking about abortion, they’re losing,” he said. “And with Kamala Harris as our nominee, that’s not an option for them. She is going to take this issue to them every single day.”

Is that REALLY the best option, though? Responding to some of Harris’ pro-abortion tweets on X, a number of critics slammed her for her poor priorities.
