High School senior issues bold bathroom challenge to female school board members

New Richmond, Wisconsin, is shaping up to be the latest battleground in the war to protect female spaces.

A parent and student group, New Richmond Parents for Strong Schools, has filed a lawsuit against the New Richmond School District over allegations of Title IX violations. Specifically, the organization claims that the district is maintaining its policy of allowing students to pick whichever bathroom aligns with their chosen gender identity, rather than their biological gender. This has made a number of students uncomfortable, including Ella Frei, who issued a challenge to female school board members that would require them to put up or shut up.

“Hello, my name is Ella Frei.  I’m a senior at New Richmond High School and I just wanted to talk about a discussion. It felt like some progress was being made toward a solution. You said you wanted to find one and even scheduled a special session on the 10th, then cancelled it,” she said of the bathroom issue.

“From now on, when the women on this board take a bathroom break, I want you to bring every single one of the men on this board in there with you. That’s the discomfort I feel, that’s the discomfort hundreds of girls in this school feel right now. It’s exactly how you have made every girl feel,” she continued. “The longer you continue to delay putting real solutions on the table, the worse it gets for girls. You are no longer protecting us, and it’s time you start. What is stopping you? Is it the lawyer? Is it time to question the advice you receive?”
