Vice President JD Vance switched gears to become an impromptu bartender after a campaign speech on Friday.
Vance was in Ohio at the Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown Works steel plant, where he announced a massive $1B multi-year investment in the company. The move is being jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and Cleveland-Cliffs, and is expected to provide jobs for 1,500 people and preserve an additional 2,300 jobs.

“Real dignity is not just about what happens in the factory. It’s not just about what happens in the office. We don’t just want you to have a good job…I want you to have peace, and I want you to have security.” pic.twitter.com/pwgPv6ubeQ

“If you take a look at the people who attended today’s announcement, you can begin to understand just how essential the steel industry and Cleveland-Cliffs are to Middletown and the entire region. Their project represents a $1 billion investment in Middletown Works which includes a new, state-of-the-art cogeneration plant in Middletown, and this demonstrates their long-term commitment and investment to our city and its future,” said Middletown Mayor Elizabeth Slamka.
But the vice president wasn’t finished there. After the speech, he reportedly jumped behind the counter of a local Cincinnati bar, where he was photographed shaking hands and serving up chili dogs and beer.

While speaking at the rally, Vance trashed the Democratic Party and particularly Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

“This is the party, the Democrat Party, of graduate students, rather than the union and non-union workers who make this facility. It’s sometimes actually hard to understand, like, what are these modern Democrats actually standing for? But look what they say, pay close attention and they’ll leave these little hints of what they actually care about. El-Sayed, this guy running for Senate in Michigan, he once argued not too long ago that criticisms of Sharia Law were rooted in white supremacy. I’d love to go back in time and tell my Papaw that there’s a man who claims to stand for working people who says that not only should we have Sharia Law, but if you criticize it, you’re a white supremacist. That’s not my Papaw’s Democrat Party, my friends,” the vice president stated.
