Hijab row hits NYC politics as AOC, Mamdani draw fire

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a supposed Catholic, is facing mockery for donning a hijab to kiss up to her Muslim friends in New York.

The leftist Democrat put on the oppressive garb while participating in an Eid al-Adha celebration in the Bronx this Wednesday alongside Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Eid al-Adha is one of two major Islamic holidays. It involves animal sacrifice, a special prayer, and family feasting.

Watch as a hijab-wearing Ocasio-Cortez spoke on stage with Mamdani behind her, wearing a traditional garment known as a kurta.

Conservatives were blown away by the hypocrisy of Ocasio-Cortez donning an oppressive Muslim garb, all while making a living off pretending the United States is the literal “Handmaid’s Tale.”

“AOC wearing a hijab exposes the total moral bankruptcy of the radical left,” one conservative critic wrote on social media. “This theatrical Marxist simpleton screams about patriarchy while cosplaying in a garment mandated by brutal theocracies.”

“Iranian morality police execute women over this exact covering. Yet this lobotomized progressive parasite treats their subjugation as a trendy accessory,” the scathing comment continued.

“You’re the woman who tried to convince other women that the U.S. was becoming Gilead, and they needed to fight to not become Handmaids,” another social media user wrote. “You have just accepted, endorsed, and wore the clothes required to be one. You are Gilead now. You are telling other women to be Handmaids.”

Ocasio-Cortez has been playing defense for Islam for many years.

Two years ago, when The Detroit News published a cartoon mocking Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib with a harmless exploding pager joke, Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at the “deeply normalized” so-called “Islamophobia” in America.

“The way Islamophobia and anti-Arab hatred is so deeply normalized and accepted in our politics is horrifying,” she wrote on social media. “It rarely receives the equal condemnation it deserves. It is inexcusable and a massive double standard. This is disgusting. And so is the silence around it. We see it.”

In September of that year, she threw a fit after Israel successfully killed a number of high-profile Hezbollah terrorists using pagers that were reportedly rigged with explosives.

“This attack clearly and unequivocally violates international humanitarian law and undermines US efforts to prevent a wider conflict,” she whined online. “Congress needs a full accounting of the attack, including an answer from the State Department as to whether any US assistance went into the development or deployment of this technology.”

Her complaints prompted a clapback from former CNN host Chris Cuomo:
