House GOP set to issue ‘criminal referrals’ in Hunter Biden probe: ‘This White House is compromised’

As Republicans ready themselves to retake control of the House in January, the flame that has kept warm the investigation into potentially illegal deals between China and Hunter and President Joe Biden is quickly becoming an inferno.

As the incoming chair of the powerful House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) has made clear that “criminal referrals” are on the table.

“If evidence justifies it, then we will have criminal referrals,” Comer told the New York Post in an exclusive interview from Capitol Hill.

Chief among the panel’s concerns is a “potentially criminal” 2017 deal involving the LLC Hunter managed and invested in — Hudson West III — and CEFC, a Chinese energy conglomerate that was hoping to sell American liquified natural gas to China.

“What we have learned from interviews is it was more than that. It was also an effort to try to help China get their foot in the door to try to purchase drillers so they could start buying ownership into the infrastructure of our American energy industry,” Comer explained.

At the time, Joe Biden had just completed his gig as President Obama’s vice president, and according to Comer, he was very much involved in the deal, which saw millions of dollars flow between China and the Biden family before Hudson West III was finally dissolved in 2018.

It was an arrangement that threatened the security of the United States, Comer stated.

“This is China trying to buy ownership into our American industry, which is a national security threat — and oh by the way it was being conducted by Joe Biden,” said Comer.

“That’s a problem and that’s why we’re concerned that this White House is compromised,” he added.

With the House majority secured, Comer said the investigation into the Bidens will be “full steam ahead” in the new year.

“We have been working on this for over a year,” Comer told The Post. “We will be ready with subpoenas out the door.”

As BizPac Review reported, what has long been considered a probe into the first son’s questionable activities has been expanded to include the President.

At a November press conference, Comer promised his panel will exercise its power to subpoena testimony and evidence to “evaluate whether this president is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars.”

“This is an investigation of Joe Biden,” he stated plainly.

Though the president has repeatedly denied any ties to his son’s business dealings, “an overwhelming body of evidence found on Hunter’s infamous hard drive and elsewhere indicates otherwise,” The Post reports.

There is, however, one obstacle to justice that will be hard for House Republicans to overcome in their pursuit of justice: Attorney General Merrick Garland.

As both a Democrat and a Biden appointee, it is difficult to imagine him prosecuting the first family.

Comer and the GOP hope to provide a “fix” to that problem.

“My goal is at the end of the investigation there will be a legislative fix,” he said. “It is so murky, what Joe Biden, his son, and his brother [James Biden] were doing.”

“You ask if it’s illegal,” he continued. “I don’t know. But I know it should be.”

The Kentucky lawmaker isn’t playing party favorites in his stance. He pointed to the Trump administration as an example of the need for more transparency when it comes to foreign business ties.

“If you’re someone like Donald Trump who runs for president who has a huge family business that has a footprint all over the United States — he has golf courses in Europe, his son-in-law has business dealings in the Middle East, the daughter deals with China on manufacturing things,” he said. “We need to have stronger disclosure laws as to what they do, what their contracts are, and things like that.”

In the meantime, Comer is in the process of collecting at least 150 automatically generated Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) generated by Hunter Biden directly from banks such as JPMorgan Chase & Co, Wells Fargo, and Citibank.

“One SAR, which has already been released, refers to ‘human trafficking’ suspicions and described the president’s son as a ‘Politically Exposed Person,'” according to The Post.

At the top of Comer’s witness list will be “Hunter’s financial adviser Edward Prewitt; James Gilliar, a Hunter business partner who wrote the infamous ’10 held by H for the big guy’ email; and Eric Schwerin, the president of Hunter’s investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners,” The Post reports.

And Comer said he has two whistleblowers of his own waiting in the wings.

“They’re people that were involved in the Hunter Biden orbit,” he revealed. “They’re providing valuable information.”
