‘I love your ears’ Biden creeps people out with strange talk to six-year-old girl

The president lived up to his “creepy” nickname Sunday with his latest “cringe alert”-worthy interaction with children.

“I love your ears.”

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden traveled to Norfolk, Virginia over the weekend to honor service members ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday promoting the White House’s Joining Forces Initiative. However, the “Friendsgiving dinner” didn’t wrap-up without an awkward exchange with kids seated nearby.

As he closed out his address, Biden’s oft-demonstrated inclination to engage with children drew him like a tractor beam to the closest table where he zeroed in on a young girl adorned with a headband complete with spotted ears.

“Thank you, thank you,” the commander-in-chief said into the microphone before turning his attention on the child, approaching her and leaning in. “And I love your ears. I love ’em. They’re really cool. What’s your name?”

After the girl responded, Biden furthered his interaction and said, “Catherine, what a beautiful name. That’s my mommy’s name. Well nice to see y- — how old are you, 17?”

A young boy from the table answered on her behalf prompting the president to turn his focus away from the girl as he exclaimed, “Six! And how old are you, 15,?”

“Four!” replied the octogenarian. “You’re a pretty big guy. Well, I tell you what, be nice to your sister. You’re gonna need her some day. At least I did.”

While onlookers smiled at the interaction, social media users too accustomed to Biden’s odd behavior around minors couldn’t help but sound alarm bells as one even suggested, “Run kid run!”

Others couldn’t help but notice the first lady’s reaction as her husband approached the table and she exchanged a look with a member of the U.S. Secret Service detail who appeared prepared to intervene as he scoped out the situation.

“Watch Jill glare to the secret service guy!!” one person wrote as another expressed, “Jill looks at him with daggers- ‘I told you not to let a child sit so close..he can’t help himself.’ Gross.”

Of course, the exchange was hardly out of character for the president whose handsy and nosey interactions with children have been documented over the years and during his administration. Young boys and girls alike have gotten the awkward grandpa treatment from Biden and the discomfort of those meetings could readily be seen etched on their faces.

His words only ever compound the cringe, like in October of last year when he opted to provide a teen girl with some unsolicited dating advice that sounded a great deal like promoting promiscuity as he suggested, “Now, very important thing I told my daughter and granddaughters: No serious guys until you’re 30.”

No matter the president’s actual intent with the interaction, X users couldn’t help but feel defensive on behalf of the girl.
