Gender ideology got another fact check this week as an Illinois Republican lawmaker “refused to deny biological reality” on the House floor.
U.S. Rep. Mary Miller declared on social media that she refused “to perpetuate the lie” on interpreting one’s gender as she would not recognize Delaware Rep. Tim ‘Sarah’ McBride as a woman.
“The chair recognizes the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride, for five minutes,” Miller said in the posted clip.
Today on the House Floor, I refused to deny biological reality.
President Trump restored biological truth in the Federal Government, and I refuse to perpetuate the lie that gender is open to our interpretation. It is not. pic.twitter.com/Rin6PWT68O

McBride is the first openly transgender member of Congress, and as Tim McBride, served as president of American University’s student body where he came out as trans in 2012.
“The same year, she became the first out trans woman to work in the White House when she interned with the Obama administration,” NBC News reported last year, adding that “in 2016, she became the first trans person to speak at a major political convention when she gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention.”
McBride became the country’s first openly trans state senator after being elected to represent Delaware’s 1st Senate District in 2020.
Of course, McBride’s presence at the Capitol prompted a debate about the use of bathrooms with Rep. Nancy Mace declaring “Biological men do not belong in private women’s spaces. Period. Full stop. End of story.”

Miller’s post sparked plenty of reactions on social media.
“This type of honesty isn’t rude or mean or anti-anything. It’s based in reality and the idea that being a woman is more than a feeling in a man’s head,” Riley Gaines wrote on X. “I hope every other House member shows the same dedication to truth that Representative Miller does.”
“Thank you @Miller_Congress for not denying reality. Biological truth; man and woman, just as God designed it,” the Illinois Freedom Caucus wrote.
We stand Firmly beside my Rep, @RepMaryMiller who understands there are 2 sexes and that biology isn’t a feeling!!
It would also be lying and disrespectful to call a Man a Madam in the People’s house!
Well done Madam Congresswoman! https://t.co/Hb1bD01EQ2 pic.twitter.com/WjquoQGHDO— Cattleman (@cattleguy92) February 7, 2025
We need more of this!
Major props to @RepMaryMiller for refusing to bend a knee to these ridiculous demands.
These Left should start getting used to us refusing to play by their stupid made up rules.
You don’t get to control our words or our thoughts. https://t.co/1ooUxD3yB7
