Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents moved quickly to nab an illegal alien who tried to abduct a four-year-old girl during a home invasion two years ago, after the charges were dropped by a Virginia court.
In a Monday press release, ICE announced that it arrested 26-year-old Honduran national Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez after a judge declined to approve a plea agreement, forcing the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney to drop the charges related to the 2023 incident when he broke into a local apartment and attempted to snatch the child from her bed.
Fingerprints found on the window were a match to Baquedano-Rodriguez, who fled the scene after the young girl’s screams awakened her mother. He was arrested by police the following day.
“The allegations in this case are deeply concerning. Unfortunately, there were multiple evidentiary issues with this case, and when the judge was presented with these facts, she declined to accept the plea agreement, which we viewed as the best opportunity for accountability. We are disappointed in the judge’s decision,” a spokesperson for the commonwealth’s attorney said in a statement.
Baquedano-Rodriguez was taken into custody by ICE in Fairfax, VA, on May 2 and is currently being held by the agency pending deportation.

“Though the court saw fit to drop his most recent charges, Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez has been convicted of numerous crimes in Virginia and represents a calamitous hazard to our Virginia residents,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Russell Hott said in the press release.
“Every one of his convictions represents another one of our neighbors that Baquedano-Rodriguez has victimized. ICE Washington, D.C. will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from our Washington, D.C. and Virginia communities,” Hott added.
Since illegally entering the U.S. near Yuma, AZ in 2018, the “Virginia man” has compiled an impressive rap sheet including “exposing his genitals to a child, and indecent exposure,” according to an ICE post to X.
“MAKING AMERICA SAFE AGAIN: @ICEgov arrested Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez, an illegal alien, after a Fairfax County court dropped charges for abduction of a person with intent to defile and burglary. “Protecting Virginians has been a top priority of our administration since day one, and it should be a priority for every leader at the federal, state, and local level,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin said. “That’s exactly why the Virginia Homeland Security Task Force is so important. I’m grateful to our law enforcement officers at every level for working hard to keep Virginians and Americans safe, and I’ll always stand with them.”
