The theme of this year’s Met Gala had Megyn Kelly slamming the “hyper-pandering” of Anna Wintour as she explained why “it very much feels like black tokenism.”

With eliminating DEI squarely in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump’s administration, it appears that virtue signaling from the left is experiencing an exponential increase. This included Monday’s Met Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, which had Kelly calling out the Vogue editor-in-chief’s chosen theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

Joined by author and commentator Andrew Klavan, who had his own thoughts on the “failed elite,” the host of SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” drew attention to reporting from the New York Times as she critiqued “so white” Wintour “and her partner who’s like organizing this whole thing with her, also a white guy,” and how they planned the event inspired by Monica Miller’s book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity”

“[They] decided that — they realized that they would take a hit if they were to plan this, so they brought in — it very much feels like black tokenism to me — a focus group of black fashion elites, allegedly, and also just well-known black people, like Angel Reese of the WNBA, to like give them the imprint of approval,” contended Kelly as the co-chairs of the event included actor Colman Domingo, musicians Pharrell Williams and ASAP Rocky, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton and honorary chair NBA player LeBron James.

“And some of these folks had, like, meetings at the Apollo Theater, The New York Times wants us to know, they went to the Apollo Theater to plan tonight’s Met Gala … as they tried to pay homage to black fashion,” she explained and argued the decision stemmed from years of bad publicity for “how disgustingly excessive and over the top this showing of wealth is, where the plates go for over $70,000 a ticket.”

Wintour’s arrival at the Met included her standing beside Domingo and Hamilton as they were serenaded by the black men’s choir Silk and Sound.

“It’s really fascinating to watch a failed elite who has now been rejected by the American public in the last election — basically declared irrelevant — fighting very hard to remain at the top by doing the same things they’ve been doing for the last thirty years,” contended Klavan who went on to assert, “It’s so out of date, it’s so old fashioned and so untoward for this absolute display of pure privilege and wealth to condescend to recognize that some people who wear clothing happen to black.”

According to the Times, cultural critic Louis Piscano said, “Putting black style front and center sends a real message,” and, “It’s important that we don’t sit this one out,” as he acknowledged he was “already bracing for the conservative backlash.”

The Gray Lady also reported that, in addition to Trump being blocked from attendance since 2017, billionaires Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg were also disinvited.

Meanwhile, Kelly highlighted past experiences at the Met where she and her husband had witnessed sexual acts and drug use in the bathrooms, “making a mockery of this place that is supposed to house some of our greatest works.”
