Ice-T celebrates Walk of Fame star by roasting ‘haters’: ‘They’ve been trying to cancel me for 40 years’

Rapper and actor Ice-T got real Friday while being honored with a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, noting that “haters” have tried to “cancel” him for 40 years and declaring, “I eat haters for food.”

“They’ve been trying to cancel me for 40 years… I’m difficult to cancel,” Ice-T told Fox News Digital at the ceremony. “I’ve already let everybody know all my flaws, all my vices, and people rock with it.”

The “Law and Order: SVU” actor said he turns the hate from others into motivation.

“When someone tells me you can’t do it, that means I got to do it,” Ice-T commented. “Use that negative energy… it’s fuel. I eat haters for food.”

The 65-year-old rapper remarked that receiving a star on the famed Hollywood walkway was a big accomplishment and said he was grateful for the support from loved ones during his career.

“It’s also great to have all your friends here, and it’s not a funeral, you know what I’m saying? So, to be here to celebrate something big and have everybody alive, as they say, ‘getting your flowers’ is a beautiful thing,” he told Fox News Digital.

Decked out in a black and white jacket, with matching black pants and sneakers, Ice-T brandished his trademark black fedora and sunglasses. He was accompanied by his wife, Coco Austin, and their 7-year-old daughter Chanel Marrow.

“I’d like to thank everybody that came up and said all that stuff about me,” he said, referring to Hargitay, Wolf, and Chuck D, according to ABC7. “I wore these sunglasses, not for fashion, but I knew they (the speakers) might make me cry.”

His wife also spoke up concerning those who attack Ice-T and his family.

“They don’t affect me at all… It’s just like whatever they’re trying to get to me, but they don’t,” Coco told Fox News Digital referring to “haters.”

Ice-T is also celebrating his 25th year of co-starring in “Law and Order: SVU.” His co-stars, including Mariska Hargitay, welcomed him to “the sacred” Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hargitay stated that Ice-T deserved the honor because he is a true artist and “the real O.G.”

Thumping “haters” has been an ongoing theme and favorite topic for Ice-T. He spoke out against them last December on Twitter.

“Christmas is over… My advice is you go into 2023 with THIS attitude if you want to WIN,” he advised fans. “Everyone is going to hate you anyway… so you might as well give them a reason.”

Ice-T was born in Newark, New Jersey on Feb. 16, 1958. When he was 13, both his parents died and he was sent to live with his aunt and her husband in Los Angeles.

He got his stage name by reciting portions of novels by Iceberg Slim.

Ice-T became interested in hip-hop music during his two-year stint in the Army. Following his discharge in 1979, he sought to become a DJ, adopting the stage name Ice-T as a tribute to Iceberg Slim. However, rapping brought him fame.

He began recording singles in 1983 and released his first album in 1987, “Rhyme Pays,” which was certified gold by the music industry trade group, the Recording Industry Association of America. His 1991 album, “O.G. Original Gangster” is said to have defined gangsta rap.
