Iconic venue grovels, caves to woke mob, cancels Chappelle show just hours before start time

Less than three hours before the curtain was to come up on a Dave Chappelle show at the iconic Minneapolis music venue, First Avenue, the club caved to a woke mob of triggered liberals and canceled the event.

In a passive-aggressive post on Wednesday that attempted to appease a historically unappeasable progressive mob, First Avenue announced the show had been moved to the Varsity Theater.

“To staff, artists, and our community, we hear you and we are sorry,” First Avenue groveled. “We know we must hold ourselves to the highest standards, and we know we let you down.”

“We are not just a black box with people in it,” the venue acknowledged, “and we understand that First Ave is not just a room, but meaningful beyond our walls.

Forget funny or the fact that it was in no small part due to “unsafe” comedians like Lenny Bruce and George Carlin that societal change in the tumultuous ’60s and ’70s occurred, First Avenue is all about keeping things super-safe from anything that could trigger as many as dozens of people who have zero intention of ever attending a stand-up show from arguably the most successful comedian on the planet in the first place.

“The First Avenue team and you have worked hard to make our venues the safest spaces in the country, and we will continue with that mission,” the venue bravely vowed.

Still, First Avenue wants you to know that they totally support the arts and all that freedom of expression stuff, so long as it doesn’t have any real impact on society.

“We believe in diverse voices and the freedom of artistic expression, but in honoring that, we lost sight of the impact this would have,” First Avenue stated.

And clearly, the impact has been cataclysmic.

Dozens of people — yes, more than 12! — gathered up their outrage and took their signs right over to the Varsity Theater after First Avenue bowed to their whims, KSTP reports.

Chappelle was already scheduled to perform four shows over two days at the Varsity. Two of those shows were added due to an overwhelming demand for tickets.

Meanwhile, First Avenue invited those who disagreed with their decision to ditch Dave to “send feedback,” and Twitter didn’t disappoint.

“Bowing to an irrational, deranged (and, let’s be honest, tiny) mob is really not a good business model for continued patronage, First Avenue,” advised one user.

“Who could possibly have anticipated that the woke mob would come for him?” asked another. “Obviously not First Avenue.”

“What happened to… if you don’t want to see him, don’t go?” wondered a third.

Others predict Chappelle will have the last laugh.

“They’re cancelling themselves,” noted one user.

“First Avenue is cancelled to me,” stated another.

Still others want Chappelle to make them pay for their virtue signal.

“Sue them for everything they have,” urged one user. “Make it painful. Teach the soy gulpers not to eff’ around with normal people.”

Even Blue Check Twitter came out to condemn First Avenue’s cowardly move.

Below, see a sample of their feedback.

Be careful what you wish for, First Avenue…
